This is the Shadows of Amn sequel to my Baldur’s Gate fan fiction novel, In The Cards. For those who have not read it already, it features the half-elven bard Zaerini, and her struggles to come to term with not only her Bhaalspawn heritage, but also her stormy love story with a certain very intimidating Red Wizard. And with that, I give the word to Zaerini herself.

Rini: Hi there guys! It’s me again, Rini. Well, lots of things have been happening since you last saw me. Maybe you remember that I had just fought a pretty gruesome battle against my half-brother Sarevok, and somehow managed to survive it too? Well, that was bad enough, but not as bad as finding out that the love of my life had decided to take off without a word, leaving only a brief note behind.

Of course, Eddie himself wasn’t too happy about it either, but how was I supposed to know that when he didn’t tell me anything? He had managed to tick off both me and a certain assassin who was even now making his way south, and it seemed only a question of which one of us would get the chance to confront him first.

Then of course, another wizard decided that it would be a great idea to slam me into a dungeon and perform painful experiments on me.
