Adrian: Baldur's Gate

Chapter 11.

"Heya! I'm Noober."

Adrian glanced at the village idiot, but said nothing.

"You ever been to Baldur's Gate? I've been to Baldur's Gate."

"If I had a copper for every moron I've run across, I could buy Baldur's Gate!" Kagain snorted. Viconia laughed.

"Ugh, I think I've stepped in something..."

Adrian glared. Xzar glided over. "Allow me, Adrian. Come my young friend...Noober, wasn't it?"

"Yeah. Yer not gonna throw rocks at me, are ya?"

"Not at all, young one, not at all...." he started to lead him away, pulling out a small dagger as he went.

Montaron grinned. "'E can always use more blood for his necromantic experiments."

Imoen ran up the street, crying. She had almost reached the Inn when she ran into someone.

It was Jaheira.

"Are you all right, child?" she asked. She and Khalid had just arrived.

"N-no," she sobbed. "Adrian's gonna go kill somebody!" she told them about Minsc and Edwin. They ran down to the guard barracks, but Minsc had been taken inside, and was still unconscious.

"H-he's got too much of a head s-start on us, again." Khalid looked down.

"And this Minsc can do nothing now. I doubt we'll catch Adrian," Jaheira sighed. "Besides, the three of us against his entire party would be overmatched. We'll just have to search the town for other party members, and see if we can go down into the mines."

Adrian's troupe left Nashkel proper and began to march through the wilderness to the west.

"Is it a long trek to this Gnoll fortress?" Adrian asked Edwin.

"Perhaps a day. No more than two," the Red Wizard answered.

"What if Khalid and Jaheira reach the mines first?" asked Montaron.

"The two of them plus Imoen? They don't dare go down the mines themselves. They'll have to recruit from town."

"Which gives us the time we need," agreed Viconia, nodding thoughtfully.

"(They continue under the delusion that I care at all.)" Edwin muttered to himself.

Adrian ignored that; he could afford to. The Red Wizard was smart enough to know not to cross them. They marched on, at a slightly faster pace.
