Beloved Child is early this week and this is the last chapter for a little while. I am going to New York on the 12th and will be back on the 19th. Hopefully there will be an extra long chapter that weekend.

I apologize in advance for the ridiculous and dirty conversation in this chapter… but please enjoy anyways.

Beloved Child 51

After Golander had explained that the wyrm whose name was Adalon could help them, the party made their way north through desolate tunnels. Magically fuelled crystals sat at regular intervals bathing the passages in a faint light. They did not have to go far until they came upon a raised board that had deep gnome runes scribbled on it. Beyond it the tunnel expanded into a larger round space. A deep hole dominated the half carved, half natural room.

“It says warning, go no further.” Viconia supplied and pointed at the sign.

“So we are just going to look at the demon first right?” Groder asked and waved at the open space before them. “I don’t fancy fighting a Balor or something like that.”

“I think I have to point out that the space is empty.” Haer`Dalis muttered a few words and then looked intently into the room.

“It is in that shaft then? Well, just throw fireballs at the ceiling above the shaft.” Groder looked at Nalia and Imoen then pointed at the cavern ceiling.

“That could bring it down on our heads.” Imoen said. “But it is a good idea because I sure don’t want to tangle with a demon right now.”

“Indeed, we are far from ready to take on a demon.” Jaheira commented. “Simply making sure it cannot escape from its domicile will have to suffice I think.”

“I smell you little ones…” A deep bass voice said from behind the party.

They all spun around at once. The demon came hulking down passage the party had come from.

“It’s behind us?” Imoen moaned.

The thing walked upright like a man but was hunched over as the tunnels were too small for its size. Its skin was grey and drawn over bulging taut muscles. Two massive horns curved from its temples and a large comb of fiery red hair stood from its scalp. Bat like wings rested on its back. Burning red eyes leered at them from above a flat nose and a wide jaw filled with fangs.

“He’s naked.” Nalia squeaked and turned a bit red in the cheeks.

“I want to know what the small ones are doing here.” The demon said. “Are they female with their small squeaky voices that grate on my mind?”

“Eh… only four of us are…” Groder began.

The demon chuckled. “Does it think it can fool me? That I cannot hear its squeaky voice and see its willowy frame and pretty face.”

“Heh… Even a demon…” Viconia muttered very quietly.

“But you are not like the small grey ones… so frightened they were when they accidentally opened up the cavern that stank of her…” The demon mused, it did not even seem to care that they were there. “I am not in the mood for little females, I hunt but the prey is not here.”

The demon brusquely shoved his way past the party knocking them over in the process. It stopped by the shaft, fires began erupting around its body and then it leapt into the shaft.

“Can we please drop the ceiling on that bastard now?” Groder asked from his position lying prone on the tunnel floor.

“It did leave, I wonder if that is enough.” Viconia said and began dusting herself off.

They got back on their feet and moved back into the tunnel.

“A fireball or two should do it.” Imoen turned her head to Nalia. “You can toss that right?”

Nalia nodded and the two began moving their hands in intricate patterns and chanting words of power. Soon two roaring balls of fire left the two mages hands and flew at the ceiling over the shaft the demon had disappeared into. When the balls of magical flame hit the stone, they erupted into two roaring explosions and the cavern room and tunnel shook. Large pieces of rock broke lose from the ceiling and fell into the shaft. More rocks fell kicking up dust as they fell chaotically down into the shaft and around it. A boulder fell down squarely in front of the entrance to the cavern room and blocked it from further sight and entry.

“Well then.” Haer`Dalis said as he tried to steady himself against the tunnel wall. “Back to the gnomes to get our justly earned reward for heroically causing this cave-in.”

“Would you rather have fought the demon, bard?” Jaheira asked quizzically.

“No, no my hound and would you pleasure me by using my name instead of bard, we are not strangers after all.” The tiefling winked at the druid whom gave him an annoyed glare. “I will leave this part out when I pen our epic.”

Imoen bounced up to Nalia as they trekked back to Golander and his tavern.

“You mighty quiet.” The pink haired girl commented and then brought her face close to Nalia`s with a sly knowing look painted on it. “Perhaps you are thinking off…” Imoen made an expansive arm gesture.

Nalia went red again and began poking her index fingers against each other.

“Well, I never really saw any… naked men before and…” The young redhead said.

“I don’t think we should qualify a demon as a man.” Jaheira said and then added annoyed. “Why are we even talking about this?”

“Actually some Drow matrons have been known to lie with demons in exchange for power or to get powerful half-blood offspring.” Viconia informed sagely.

“Right…” Imoen smiled and waved a hand. “Let’s stop shall we?” Then she turned to Nalia again and changed the subject. “Can I see your spell book once we get back to the tavern?”

Nalia nodded.

“I would like that; I want to take a look at your spells as well.” She smiled a bit. “My selection has not always been the best since my teacher saw magic as more of a hobby then anything else and I was of course not supposed to do any magic or anything else a proper noble lady shouldn’t brook with.”

“Well, we will have a chance to look it over once we get to the tavern, I did have a teacher who took magic very seriously even if he though that it was futile to learn.” Imoen nodded.

“And in the end it turned out that Xan was futile.” Groder commented.

“Well, some of us actually get along with people you know.” Imoen snorted and crossed her arms over her chest.

**

Golander was happy and apparently a bit surprised to see them return so quickly. They sat around a table on chairs that were too small for the party.

“We heard the rumbling and the sounds of rocks falling even here.” The old gnome smiled. “It must have been a fierce battle indeed.” The other gnomes nodded and Golander went on. “At least now we know to avoid that area and can send for our folk to return.” The gnome puffed himself up a bit then and said.

“Now for your reward.” Golander reached into his robes and pulled out a small shining diamond. It burned yellow as from an inner fire. “This will let you pass through the darkness to Adalon`s home.”

Jaheira took the diamond before Groder could reach for it and secured it in her pack. Groder shot her an annoyed look.

“You are free to rest here if you want to.” Golander said and pointed to a doorway. “There are some larger rooms back there and when you go to Adalon, do be careful. Her lair is close to the Drow city and it has been more activity then usual around there these past days.” The gnome cautioned.

The larger rooms were only large in size and the amount of beds they held. The beds and furniture were gnome sized so the consigned itself to simply rest lightly before moving on. Golander had marked the lair of the wyrm on their map. They passed now happy gnome guards before they once more crossed the bridge over the gorge and found themselves in the wastelands of the Underdark once more.

**

The walked cautiously through the gloom, back the way they had come and past the device with the faces. The landscape did not change much during their walk; the same rocks and the same crags in different formations came and went. The same dust that whirled up in small tornados as their boots met the rocky ground. Soon enough the path split again and a rickety bridge led over a cleft in the ground where dark water ran. The party followed the path north passing by the rickety bridge. The rock walls pressed closer for a while and then opened into a wide expanse that at its farthest end it cleft in two large wide paths.

Viconia translated Golander`s scribblings on the map and said to take the left path to get to Adalons lair. They went down the left path and it veered of to the west. They came upon a great carved stairway that led down deeper into bowels of the earth.

Even as they began descending the huge stairs they could see the wyrm. It lay on a pile of gold and precious stones that had taken ages to collect. The silver scales of the great dragon reflected the water that surrounded the platform that held it and its horde. Its head adorned with long curved horns lay half buried in gold coins, its eyes were shut tight as streams of what looked like liquid crystal ran from the corners of them.

“It is beautiful.” Imoen said.

Nalia nodded.

“Very… wait… do you mean the dragon or the gold?” The noble asked.

The pink haired girl smiled a little.

“Maybe both…” She winked.

“It’s a Silver…” Jaheira sounded out of breath then she turned to Groder and looked at him seriously. “Groder, you will not say a word to it.”

“Wha?” Groder looked genuinely surprised and a dark look began falling over his face.

“Jaheira is right, abbil.” Viconia said, the open worry on her face was in her voice as well.

“But…” The blonde youth tried when he found himself thwarted by both women.

“While you are an excellent actor My Raven, you are not so much a diplomat.” Haer`Dalis cut in and laid a hand on Groder`s shoulder. “Even if acting lends itself towards diplomacy you could even say that it is two sides of the same coin but some actors are not diplomats and you belong to that category I am afraid.” The actor gently ran a hand over Groder´s cheek but the youth did not seem to notice it, narrowed eyes focused on Jaheira. “It is best to let the hound speak to the wyrm, even the silver are fickle beasts.”

Groder shrugged.

“Do whatever you like.” He crossed his arms and pouted.

“Ah… He is so very cute like that no?” Haer`Dalis commented.

Meanwhile the wyrm had raised its head and its eyes where open. Clear yellow irises focused on the party. The dragon opened its mouth, each fang it had was as tall as a man.

“Come closer so I may look upon you, saviours of the Svirfneblin.” It said in a deep but feminine voice.

They approached slowly; the entire cavernous home of the wyrm was bathed and reflected in the water and the great dragons scales. Before Adalon they were very small indeed. The silver dragon rose to stand on legs thicker and larger then the sturdiest oak, long curved claws sank into the gold. Adalons yellow eyes focused on the party. A lone crystalline tear fell from her cheek and splashed on the platform.

“I am Adalon and you have my thanks for aiding the gnomes, they have been good friends for some time.” The dragon said. “But I want to know why you travel with a Drow?”

“My lady, Viconia is a valued ally and a friend. She is not aligned with any of the Underdark gods.” Jaheira told the dragon.

Adalon nodded while Viconia shot a brief look of appreciation at Jaheira.

“I shall trust your words, druid. Now, why do have sought me out? I am… distressed at the moment.” The wyrm lowered her head a bit. The long barbed tail coiled behind the dragon.

“We seek two from the surface, a sorcerer and a vampire.” Jaheira explained. “We have hunted them for some time and find ourselves here.”

Adalons nostrils flared, wisps of smoke billowed from them. The dragons eyes went wide and she roared.

“They stole into my lair and abducted my young, my eggs!” The wyrm growled. “They have given them to the Drow so that I cannot hinder the dark elves from striking at their hated enemies, the elves of moon and sun.” She exhaled deeply. “But allow me to explain: Near this my lair and the Drow city of Ust Natha one of the first lays an ancient elven ruin and a passage to the surface. It was… it is my charge to protect it from the Drow but now they have my eggs as hostages and I cannot move against them and they wage war on their surface cousins.”

“So Irenicus plan was to set the Drow on the elves, which must mean that that Suldanessellar lies somewhere above us.” Imoen blurted out and then quickly added. “Sorry…”

“Shattered one?” Adalon mused. “Is that the sorcerer’s name? How odd and that he would seek to wage war on Suldanessellar as well…” The silver dragon shook her head. “My musings aside, if you seek the two defilers you must go to Ust Natha which means that we will benefit from cooperation.”

“But there is no way we can even approach the city.” Viconia spoke up and swept an arm around her at the party.

Adalon nodded again.

“I know, I shall provide disguises for you and way out of the underdark as well. But you must retrieve my eggs so I can stop the Drow.” Adalon said.

“Of course, we have little choice anyway.” Jaheira agreed.

“I shall give the form of a patrol from Ched Nasad that was bound for Ust Natha. It is complete with house insignias but I must warn you, they were a large group and you are only six. I suggest coming up with a convincing lie before going to the city. But I have a question first.”

“Yes?” Jaheira raised an eyebrow.

“The young bhaalspawn is looking petulant and has been bristling since you arrived, might I inquire why?” The wyrm brought her head closer to the party.

“We instructed him not to speak since he would most likely have offended you.” Viconia explained and smiled slightly.

“Hmm…” Adalon cocked her head to the side. “I see.” She might have smirked then but the wide mouth was not made for such things. “Now then, to the disguises, I also suggest altering your names.”

“Very well, let the illusion begin.” Viconia said and crossed her arms.

The silver dragon chanted and a blue light fell over the party. When it faded they had with the exception of Viconia for all intents and purposes become Drow. Jaheira`s sharp features were still there but obsidian like Viconia and her chesnut hair had gone silvery white. Imoen`s hair was still pink and her face somehow looked even more mischievous as Drow. Tossing his hair, Haer`Dalis was preening at his reflection in the water. Nalia weighed Yoshimo`s katana in her hand, the blade had changed into a finely wrought mithril blade. Groder looked at his bare arms and found that they had gone form pale to grey. The tattoos were gone as well but then the skin seemed to shift and they returned brighter blue then ever. His face fell.

“Odd.” The dragon said and peered down at the transformed boy. “What devilry is that? It smells of outsider planes.”

“Remembrance of some sorcerer that is all.” Groder quipped.

Adalon harrumphed and began settling back down on her horde.

“Now we plan!” Viconia announced and motioned for the party to come closer. “It is of the utmost importance that you listen to Viconia now and heed her advice.”

I am going to New York on the 12th and will be back on the 19th.

Have fun! :)

I apologize in advance for the ridiculous and dirty conversation in this chapter… but please enjoy anyways.

Did. :)

“I smell you little ones…” A deep bass voice said from behind the party.

They all spun around at once. The demon came hulking down passage the party had come from.

“It’s behind us?” Imoen moaned.

 Classic!

Pretty.

“He’s naked.” Nalia squeaked and turned a bit red in the cheeks.

Yes, Nalia. This is the most important part, aye...

The demon brusquely shoved his way past the party knocking them over in the process. It stopped by the shaft, fires began erupting around its body and then it leapt into the shaft.

It was... weird. It reminded me a bit about that Albert/Ruffie encounter in BG1...

(Will there ever be an explanation whom the demon is hunting, or was that just a piece of general weirdness?)

“Well then.” Haer`Dalis said as he tried to steady himself against the tunnel wall. “Back to the gnomes to get our justly earned reward for heroically causing this cave-in.”

“No, no my hound and would you pleasure me by using my name instead of bard, we are not strangers after all.” The tiefling winked at the druid whom gave him an annoyed glare. “I will leave this part out when I pen our epic.”

I think I want a Haer'Dalis/Jaheira romance. It would be so weird.

“You mighty quiet.” The pink haired girl commented and then brought her face close to Nalia`s with a sly knowing look painted on it. “Perhaps you are thinking off…” Imoen made an expansive arm gesture.

...consorting with demons?

“Actually some Drow matrons have been known to lie with demons in exchange for power or to get powerful half-blood offspring.” Viconia informed sagely.

Oh, my. 'Twould seem my thought patterns follow the ones you set for Viconia...

The party did not nod? They still have this much shame? :jaw drops:

“It’s a Silver…” Jaheira sounded out of breath then she turned to Groder and looked at him seriously. “Groder, you will not say a word to it.”

“Wha?” Groder looked genuinely surprised and a dark look began falling over his face.

“Jaheira is right, abbil.” Viconia said, the open worry on her face was in her voice as well.

“But…” The blonde youth tried when he found himself thwarted by both women.

Thwarted? How? Did they gag him? Spelled Silence on him? Inquiring mind wants to know...

Oh... The angst...! The angst...!

“So Irenicus plan was to set the Drow on the elves, which must mean that that Suldanessellar lies somewhere above us.” Imoen blurted out and then quickly added. “Sorry…”

Imoen! You're barging prosaically on a high fantasy moment!

(I'm sorry. After writing that #&@!$# Firkraag, I'm averse to dragons for a moment.)

Cooperation? What's your part?

“But there is no way we can even approach the city.” Viconia spoke up and swept an arm around her at the party.

...well, you can go alone...

“I know, I shall provide disguises for you and way out of the underdark as well. But you must retrieve my eggs so I can stop the Drow.” Adalon said.

Ah. So that's your part!

“The young bhaalspawn is looking petulant and has been bristling since you arrived, might I inquire why?” The wyrm brought her head closer to the party.

:D

The silver dragon chanted and a blue light fell over the party. When it faded they had with the exception of Viconia for all intents and purposes become Drow. Jaheira`s sharp features were still there but obsidian like Viconia and her chesnut hair had gone silvery white. Imoen`s hair was still pink and her face somehow looked even more mischievous as Drow. Groder looked at his bare arms and found that they had gone form pale to grey. The tattoos were gone as well but then the skin seemed to shift and they returned brighter blue then ever. His face fell.

Cool! (Great part. And Imoen as a pink-haired drow? :D )

“Now we plan!” Viconia announced and motioned for the party to come closer. “It is of the utmost importance that you listen to Viconia now and heed her advice.”

:D She's feeling for her role already, I see! But then, it's practically homecoming for her...

Good chapter! But. Mmm? Phaere? Was that demon hunting Phaere?

“So we are just going to look at the demon first right?” Groder asked and waved at the open space before them. “I don’t fancy fighting a Balor or something like that.”

Well it could be an imp, or something. Even a succubus.

“Indeed, we are far from ready to take on a demon.” Jaheira commented. “Simply making sure it cannot escape from its domicile will have to suffice I think.”

Aww, but you had no problems with him in the game!

Interesting thing to notice about a being who is about to kill you. :)

The demon chuckled. “Does it think it can fool me? That I cannot hear its squeaky voice and see its willowy frame and pretty face.”

LOL! Poor Groder. ;)

The demon brusquely shoved his way past the party knocking them over in the process. It stopped by the shaft, fires began erupting around its body and then it leapt into the shaft.

D’aww, no fight? ;)

“No, no my hound and would you pleasure me by using my name instead of bard, we are not strangers after all.” The tiefling winked at the druid whom gave him an annoyed glare. “I will leave this part out when I pen our epic.”

With luck, it shall never be written. I doubt it could be much better than… The Eye of Argon!

“I don’t think we should qualify a demon as a man.” Jaheira said and then added annoyed. “Why are we even talking about this?”

Because some people can’t keep their pervy minds in check.

“Actually some Drow matrons have been known to lie with demons in exchange for power or to get powerful half-blood offspring.” Viconia informed sagely.

Yes, well, but they’re Drow. We know what they are like.

“Well, we will have a chance to look it over once we get to the tavern, I did have a teacher who took magic very seriously even if he though that it was futile to learn.” Imoen nodded.

“And in the end it turned out that Xan was futile.” Groder commented.

Do we know what happened to him?

Jaheira took the diamond before Groder could reach for it and secured it in her pack. Groder shot her an annoyed look.

Aww look how they trust their leader!

Oh yummy… let’s kill it and loot it! ;)

Groder must be getting more and more pissed off about being excluded from all decision making.

“My lady, Viconia is a valued ally and a friend. She is not aligned with any of the Underdark gods.” Jaheira told the dragon.

Awww. :P

Really do wonder though, how did Irenicus and Bodhi managed to steal the eggs.

That’s the polite way of saying that ‘you can just run my errands’.

“I shall give the form of a patrol from Ched Nasad that was bound for Ust Natha. It is complete with house insignias but I must warn you, they were a large group and you are only six. I suggest coming up with a convincing lie before going to the city. But I have a question first.”

Well, shouldn’t be too hard, plenty of things that can happen on the way.

“The young bhaalspawn is looking petulant and has been bristling since you arrived, might I inquire why?” The wyrm brought her head closer to the party.

Oh, he’s like that the whole time. ;)

Yikes! She is really going to stand out in the crowd…

“Now we plan!” Viconia announced and motioned for the party to come closer. “It is of the utmost importance that you listen to Viconia now and heed her advice.”

Hmm, doing everything that Viconia tells them to… now these could several intriguing tendays…

Look who you're talking to. I write ridiculous and dirty conversations all the time.

“That could bring it down on our heads.” Imoen said. “But it is a good idea because I sure don’t want to tangle with a demon right now.”

Fighting with demons never ends well, even if you survive. 'Cause then it'll just reform and come back to kill you later.

“It’s behind us?” Imoen moaned.

Shoulda seen that one coming. :P

“He’s naked.” Nalia squeaked and turned a bit red in the cheeks.

I'll... refrain from making any of the jokes that just sprang to mind.

The demon chuckled. “Does it think it can fool me? That I cannot hear its squeaky voice and see its willowy frame and pretty face.”

“Well then.” Haer`Dalis said as he tried to steady himself against the tunnel wall. “Back to the gnomes to get our justly earned reward for heroically causing this cave-in.”

Yay for the easy way out.

“No, no my hound and would you pleasure me by using my name instead of bard, we are not strangers after all.” The tiefling winked at the druid whom gave him an annoyed glare. “I will leave this part out when I pen our epic.”

I wonder how many other parts he's earmarked for removal?

“Well, I never really saw any… naked men before and…” The young redhead said.

He must've been quite-- no, no, never mind.

“I don’t think we should qualify a demon as a man.” Jaheira said and then added annoyed. “Why are we even talking about this?”

Good, Jaheira, some sense. Go with that.

“Actually some Drow matrons have been known to lie with demons in exchange for power or to get powerful half-blood offspring.” Viconia informed sagely.

Which produce Fey'ri, right? Elven tieflings? Drow elven tieflings? That's gotta be a deadly combination.

“And in the end it turned out that Xan was futile.” Groder commented.

Aww, dead Xan? ;) But I like him....

Jaheira took the diamond before Groder could reach for it and secured it in her pack. Groder shot her an annoyed look.

;) To be fair, Jaheira, who's he gonna pawn it to down here?

Even as they began descending the huge stairs they could see the wyrm. It lay on a pile of gold and precious stones that had taken ages to collect. The silver scales of the great dragon reflected the water that surrounded the platform that held it and its horde. Its head adorned with long curved horns lay half buried in gold coins, its eyes were shut tight as streams of what looked like liquid crystal ran from the corners of them.

Aww, Addy's cwyin'.

... sorry.

“It’s a Silver…” Jaheira sounded out of breath then she turned to Groder and looked at him seriously. “Groder, you will not say a word to it.”

Probably a good idea. A Silver dragon might be as weird about Bhaalspawn as a corrupt Harper.

“Ah… He is so very cute like that no?” Haer`Dalis commented.

"Haer'Dalis" and "cute" are generally not words I'd expect to see in one sentence, but this works. ;)

“My lady, Viconia is a valued ally and a friend. She is not aligned with any of the Underdark gods.” Jaheira told the dragon.

Adalon nodded while Viconia shot a brief look of appreciation at Jaheira.

D'aww.

“So Irenicus plan was to set the Drow on the elves, which must mean that that Suldanessellar lies somewhere above us.” Imoen blurted out and then quickly added. “Sorry…”

Pfeh, no reason to apologize for flaunting that high INT score, Immy.

“The young bhaalspawn is looking petulant and has been bristling since you arrived, might I inquire why?” The wyrm brought her head closer to the party.

Ah, she can tell. Hmm... I guess I figured they were telling him to talk so he wouldn't draw attention to himself and his unique heritage.

“Remembrance of some sorcerer that is all.” Groder quipped.

Ooh. Still, Drow have to have tattoos sometimes, right?

“Now we plan!” Viconia announced and motioned for the party to come closer. “It is of the utmost importance that you listen to Viconia now and heed her advice.”

Hehe... I can see it now. "Groder, you must go to the Lust chambers. They will suspect you otherwise. And don't squeak too much."

Can't wait to see what happens in Ust Natha.

“I want to know what the small ones are doing here.” The demon said. “Are they female with their small squeaky voices that grate on my mind?”

“Eh… only four of us are…” Groder began.

The demon chuckled. “Does it think it can fool me? That I cannot hear its squeaky voice and see its willowy frame and pretty face.”

;) ;) ;)

“But you are not like the small grey ones… so frightened they were when they accidentally opened up the cavern that stank of her…” The demon mused, it did not even seem to care that they were there. “I am not in the mood for little females, I hunt but the prey is not here.”

So, who's the prey? Adalon?

“No, no my hound and would you pleasure me by using my name instead of bard, we are not strangers after all.” The tiefling winked at the druid whom gave him an annoyed glare. “I will leave this part out when I pen our epic.”

He's one to talk, with all his pet names ;)

“Now for your reward.” Golander reached into his robes and pulled out a small shining diamond. It burned yellow as from an inner fire. “This will let you pass through the darkness to Adalon`s home.”

Jaheira took the diamond before Groder could reach for it and secured it in her pack. Groder shot her an annoyed look.

Probably a good idea.

:)

“It’s a Silver…” Jaheira sounded out of breath then she turned to Groder and looked at him seriously. “Groder, you will not say a word to it.”

Another good idea from Jaheira :)

“My lady, Viconia is a valued ally and a friend. She is not aligned with any of the Underdark gods.” Jaheira told the dragon.

And Shar is sooo much better than them :P

Oh god, a pink haired drow?

“Odd.” The dragon said and peered down at the transformed boy. “What devilry is that? It smells of outsider planes.”

“Remembrance of some sorcerer that is all.” Groder quipped.

Yep, that's all. Really.

“Now we plan!” Viconia announced and motioned for the party to come closer. “It is of the utmost importance that you listen to Viconia now and heed her advice.”

This should be very interesting!

I am going to New York on the 12th and will be back on the 19th.
Have fun! :)
Thankee

I apologize in advance for the ridiculous and dirty conversation in this chapter… but please enjoy anyways.
Did. :)

Thankee, glad you did.
“I smell you little ones…” A deep bass voice said from behind the party.

They all spun around at once. The demon came hulking down passage the party had come from.

“It’s behind us?” Imoen moaned.
 Classic!
Heh... A horrible classic for them...

Pretty.
Isn`t he? Everyone would love to have him over for tea. I actually nicked him from Neverwinter Nights 2.

“He’s naked.” Nalia squeaked and turned a bit red in the cheeks.
Yes, Nalia. This is the most important part, aye...
He has an imposing presence. ;)

Well, I actually tore him from NWN 2 so he is seacring for his hated mother...

“Well then.” Haer`Dalis said as he tried to steady himself against the tunnel wall. “Back to the gnomes to get our justly earned reward for heroically causing this cave-in.”
:(

“No, no my hound and would you pleasure me by using my name instead of bard, we are not strangers after all.” The tiefling winked at the druid whom gave him an annoyed glare. “I will leave this part out when I pen our epic.”
I think I want a Haer'Dalis/Jaheira romance. It would be so weird.
Weird doesn`t begin to describe it... I do wonder what it would be like though.

“You mighty quiet.” The pink haired girl commented and then brought her face close to Nalia`s with a sly knowing look painted on it. “Perhaps you are thinking off…” Imoen made an expansive arm gesture.
...consorting with demons?
:?

Actually Imoen was reffering to the "size" of the demon... Yes, I made THAT joke!

“Actually some Drow matrons have been known to lie with demons in exchange for power or to get powerful half-blood offspring.” Viconia informed sagely.
Oh, my. 'Twould seem my thought patterns follow the ones you set for Viconia... :P
Yep and of course it is not unusual for Drow.

The party did not nod? They still have this much shame? :jaw drops:
Heh... I actually did not think of them agreeing but let us say that they have shame instead. ;)

“It’s a Silver…” Jaheira sounded out of breath then she turned to Groder and looked at him seriously. “Groder, you will not say a word to it.”

“Wha?” Groder looked genuinely surprised and a dark look began falling over his face.

“Jaheira is right, abbil.” Viconia said, the open worry on her face was in her voice as well.
;)
They are wise as he would probably just make her angry. ;)

“But…” The blonde youth tried when he found himself thwarted by both women.
Thwarted? How? Did they gag him? Spelled Silence on him? Inquiring mind wants to know...
The Jaheira-Viconia leadership combo firmly said no. Groder can`t beat that.

Oh... The angst...! The angst...!
:D

But she is sad over losing her eggs...

Alright, will be intresting to see your dragon.

Cooperation? What's your part?
The part were you do as little as possible...

“But there is no way we can even approach the city.” Viconia spoke up and swept an arm around her at the party.
...well, you can go alone...
Viconia: *fake scottish accent* The name is Devir, Viconia Devir.

“I know, I shall provide disguises for you and way out of the underdark as well. But you must retrieve my eggs so I can stop the Drow.” Adalon said.
Ah. So that's your part!
Well, it is kind of an essential part... :)

“The young bhaalspawn is looking petulant and has been bristling since you arrived, might I inquire why?” The wyrm brought her head closer to the party.
:D
Aw, she is just looking out for him. :)

Cool! (Great part. And Imoen as a pink-haired drow? :D )
Thankee. Yep Imoen is a pink haired Drow, for some reason Adalons spell did not turn her hair white.

She will have some fun at first and then realize some things...

The demon was hunting its mother whom it does not like. Phaere is still a captive of mind flayers.

Matron Ardulace: Honestly, I told her not to wear the school uniform. She knows how weird mind flayers get around school uniforms.

“So we are just going to look at the demon first right?” Groder asked and waved at the open space before them. “I don’t fancy fighting a Balor or something like that.”
Well it could be an imp, or something. Even a succubus.
It could but what are the chances that it is?

“Indeed, we are far from ready to take on a demon.” Jaheira commented. “Simply making sure it cannot escape from its domicile will have to suffice I think.”
Aww, but you had no problems with him in the game!
In the game she most likely has a +3 waepon to wound it with... ;)

Interesting thing to notice about a being who is about to kill you. :D
Heh... Indeed... Nalia might just have a dirty mind. ;)

The demon chuckled. “Does it think it can fool me? That I cannot hear its squeaky voice and see its willowy frame and pretty face.”
LOL! Poor Groder. :(
And it will get worse as he gets older. I have some funny epioluge dialog where some prostitutes discuss Groder.

The demon brusquely shoved his way past the party knocking them over in the process. It stopped by the shaft, fires began erupting around its body and then it leapt into the shaft.
D’aww, no fight? :?
No fight sorry.... More fighting in the next chapter!

:P

I like to think that Haer has some form of standard...

“I don’t think we should qualify a demon as a man.” Jaheira said and then added annoyed. “Why are we even talking about this?”
Because some people can’t keep their pervy minds in check.
Exactly! And everything is more when its pervy!

“Actually some Drow matrons have been known to lie with demons in exchange for power or to get powerful half-blood offspring.” Viconia informed sagely.
Yes, well, but they’re Drow. We know what they are like.
Heh... Yes yes, we do.

“Well, we will have a chance to look it over once we get to the tavern, I did have a teacher who took magic very seriously even if he though that it was futile to learn.” Imoen nodded.
“And in the end it turned out that Xan was futile.” Groder commented.
Do we know what happened to him?
I will get back to that...

Jaheira took the diamond before Groder could reach for it and secured it in her pack. Groder shot her an annoyed look.
Aww look how they trust their leader!
Heh... Can you feel the love?

Besides Jaheira and Viconia are practically the leaders now anyways...

Oh yummy… let’s kill it and loot it! :D
:D

Killing a grieving dragon? Have you no shame? ;)

Groder must be getting more and more pissed off about being excluded from all decision making.
Yeah, he has a few choice word to say about it.

“My lady, Viconia is a valued ally and a friend. She is not aligned with any of the Underdark gods.” Jaheira told the dragon.
Awww. ;)
They are growing ever closer. :)

Really do wonder though, how did Irenicus and Bodhi managed to steal the eggs. :)
Powerful mage + vampire = stealthy combo. :)

That’s the polite way of saying that ‘you can just run my errands’. :)

Well, she can`t just tromp through the city.

Of course... Handmaiden Imrae will be rather displeased that the promised warparty is only six people though.

“The young bhaalspawn is looking petulant and has been bristling since you arrived, might I inquire why?” The wyrm brought her head closer to the party.
Oh, he’s like that the whole time. :D
Heh... That he is!

Yikes! She is really going to stand out in the crowd…
She and Groder both. In Drow years he would be locked up in either fighter or mage schools.

“Now we plan!” Viconia announced and motioned for the party to come closer. “It is of the utmost importance that you listen to Viconia now and heed her advice.”
Hmm, doing everything that Viconia tells them to… now these could several intriguing tendays…
It will be... it most certainly will be.

Look who you're talking to. I write ridiculous and dirty conversations all the time.
:(

A-OK!
“That could bring it down on our heads.” Imoen said. “But it is a good idea because I sure don’t want to tangle with a demon right now.”

Fighting with demons never ends well, even if you survive. 'Cause then it'll just reform and come back to kill you later.
Yep, demons are annoying that way.
“It’s behind us?” Imoen moaned.

Shoulda seen that one coming. :P
Heh... It certainly was a suprise for them.

“He’s naked.” Nalia squeaked and turned a bit red in the cheeks.
I'll... refrain from making any of the jokes that just sprang to mind.
I think I had the same jokes in mind. ;)

The demon chuckled. “Does it think it can fool me? That I cannot hear its squeaky voice and see its willowy frame and pretty face.”
Groder can`t get no respect!

“Well then.” Haer`Dalis said as he tried to steady himself against the tunnel wall. “Back to the gnomes to get our justly earned reward for heroically causing this cave-in.”
Yay for the easy way out.
Indeed. That demon would have slaughtered them just like it always kills me in the game.

“No, no my hound and would you pleasure me by using my name instead of bard, we are not strangers after all.” The tiefling winked at the druid whom gave him an annoyed glare. “I will leave this part out when I pen our epic.”
I wonder how many other parts he's earmarked for removal?
He has a few pages that will never see the light of day. :)

“Well, I never really saw any… naked men before and…” The young redhead said.
He must've been quite-- no, no, never mind.
He was... :)
“I don’t think we should qualify a demon as a man.” Jaheira said and then added annoyed. “Why are we even talking about this?”

Good, Jaheira, some sense. Go with that.
She is the most sensible there.

“Actually some Drow matrons have been known to lie with demons in exchange for power or to get powerful half-blood offspring.” Viconia informed sagely.
Which produce Fey'ri, right? Elven tieflings? Drow elven tieflings? That's gotta be a deadly combination.
That and some other combinations I think.

“And in the end it turned out that Xan was futile.” Groder commented.
Aww, dead Xan? :? But I like him....
Unfortunatly yes...

Jaheira took the diamond before Groder could reach for it and secured it in her pack. Groder shot her an annoyed look.
;) To be fair, Jaheira, who's he gonna pawn it to down here?
You never know what he might do with it. :)

Aww, Addy's cwyin'.

... sorry.
:)

“It’s a Silver…” Jaheira sounded out of breath then she turned to Groder and looked at him seriously. “Groder, you will not say a word to it.”
Probably a good idea. A Silver dragon might be as weird about Bhaalspawn as a corrupt Harper.
She is more worried that Groder will offend the dragon then anything else.

“Ah… He is so very cute like that no?” Haer`Dalis commented.
"Haer'Dalis" and "cute" are generally not words I'd expect to see in one sentence, but this works. ;)
Thankee. Groder chasing libertine Haer`Dalis seems to be working.

“My lady, Viconia is a valued ally and a friend. She is not aligned with any of the Underdark gods.” Jaheira told the dragon.

Adalon nodded while Viconia shot a brief look of appreciation at Jaheira.
D'aww.
Thier friendship is gaining ground!

“So Irenicus plan was to set the Drow on the elves, which must mean that that Suldanessellar lies somewhere above us.” Imoen blurted out and then quickly added. “Sorry…”
Pfeh, no reason to apologize for flaunting that high INT score, Immy.
Damn straight! She needs to flaunt that a bit.

Heh... nah... They just figured he would make Adalon angry.

“Remembrance of some sorcerer that is all.” Groder quipped.
Ooh. Still, Drow have to have tattoos sometimes, right?
I guess they do. Which reminds me that he needs to be asked about them...

Can't wait to see what happens in Ust Natha.
;)

Will Groder ever see the inside of the lust chambers? Who knows.

I am looking forward to the Ust Natha sections myself.

Beloved Child is early this week and this is the last chapter for a little while. I am going to New York on the 12th and will be back on the 19th. Hopefully there will be an extra long chapter that weekend.

Have a good trip!

Thankee, I sure hope I will.

Charming.

A lovely visage ain`t he?

“He’s naked.” Nalia squeaked and turned a bit red in the cheeks.

Such a dirty mind Nalia has... ;)

“I want to know what the small ones are doing here.” The demon said. “Are they female with their small squeaky voices that grate on my mind?”

“Eh… only four of us are…” Groder began.

The demon chuckled. “Does it think it can fool me? That I cannot hear its squeaky voice and see its willowy frame and pretty face.”

;) ;) ;)

*bows*

“But you are not like the small grey ones… so frightened they were when they accidentally opened up the cavern that stank of her…” The demon mused, it did not even seem to care that they were there. “I am not in the mood for little females, I hunt but the prey is not here.”

So, who's the prey? Adalon?

Nope, the demon is hunting his mother.

“No, no my hound and would you pleasure me by using my name instead of bard, we are not strangers after all.” The tiefling winked at the druid whom gave him an annoyed glare. “I will leave this part out when I pen our epic.”

He's one to talk, with all his pet names :)

He likes to hear his own name methinks :)

Most likely yes... you never know what he will do.

:)

Mmm... She is a bit upset at the moment.

“It’s a Silver…” Jaheira sounded out of breath then she turned to Groder and looked at him seriously. “Groder, you will not say a word to it.”

Another good idea from Jaheira :?

All that wis has to account for something!

“My lady, Viconia is a valued ally and a friend. She is not aligned with any of the Underdark gods.” Jaheira told the dragon.

And Shar is sooo much better than them :P

He he...

Well, she isn`t Lolth anyways... :)

Oh god, a pink haired drow?

Oh yeah! The silliest Drow ever.

“Odd.” The dragon said and peered down at the transformed boy. “What devilry is that? It smells of outsider planes.”

“Remembrance of some sorcerer that is all.” Groder quipped.

Yep, that's all. Really.

Heh... He is a bit petulant right now.

“Now we plan!” Viconia announced and motioned for the party to come closer. “It is of the utmost importance that you listen to Viconia now and heed her advice.”

This should be very interesting!

I do hope so!

I apologize in advance for the ridiculous and dirty conversation in this chapter… but please enjoy anyways.

I feel this is my cue to start commenting!

“I think I have to point out that the space is empty.” Haer`Dalis muttered a few words and then looked intently into the room.

*Real* astute of you, bard :P

“Indeed, we are far from ready to take on a demon.” Jaheira commented. “Simply making sure it cannot escape from its domicile will have to suffice I think.”

That isn't what adventurers do! They fight, despite being severely outnumbered/overpowered. And normally win anyway!

“It’s behind us?” Imoen moaned.

"Oh no it isn't!"

Cute little thing, ain't he?

“He’s naked.” Nalia squeaked and turned a bit red in the cheeks.

 Bless her innocent little socks ;)

“I want to know what the small ones are doing here.” The demon said. “Are they female with their small squeaky voices that grate on my mind?”...

“Heh… Even a demon…” Viconia muttered very quietly.

I've been reading long enough to understand that joke. Hoorah for me! I never understand in-jokes!

I don't think that'd really stop him, but for all those silly little gnomes know, he's dead meat *mischievous cackle*

“Well then.” Haer`Dalis said as he tried to steady himself against the tunnel wall. “Back to the gnomes to get our justly earned reward for heroically causing this cave-in.”

Heh heh. This is just the absolutely perfect time to start getting rigtheous and heroic Haer'Dalis...

“Well, I never really saw any… naked men before and…” The young redhead said.

Sheltered, sheltered little Nalia. If anyone can erase however many years of noble upbringing, it's our Immy. It's only a mtter of time.

“Actually some Drow matrons have been known to lie with demons in exchange for power or to get powerful half-blood offspring.” Viconia informed sagely.

Figures

“I would like that; I want to take a look at your spells as well.” She smiled a bit. “My selection has not always been the best since my teacher saw magic as more of a hobby then anything else and I was of course not supposed to do any magic or anything else a proper noble lady shouldn’t brook with.”

And what spells would those be? On hot days did she cool herself down with chilling touch? Did she fragrance rooms with Zone of Sweet Air?

Hey! This must be why she deoesn't know trusty ol' maggic missile at the beginning!

“Well, some of us actually get along with people you know.” Imoen snorted and crossed her arms over her chest.

Groder gets along with people! There's ... err ... I'll get back to you on that.

Jaheira took the diamond before Groder could reach for it and secured it in her pack. Groder shot her an annoyed look.

I think somebody is pining for role as leader and is not hiding her jadedness very well. ;)

Loved that description ;)

“It’s a Silver…” Jaheira sounded out of breath then she turned to Groder and looked at him seriously. “Groder, you will not say a word to it.”

That's probably for the best...

“Wha?” Groder looked genuinely surprised and a dark look began falling over his face.

;)

“Ah… He is so very cute like that no?” Haer`Dalis commented.

Oh la la! Sneaking in there whilst he's distracted, are we?

“My lady, Viconia is a valued ally and a friend. She is not aligned with any of the Underdark gods.” Jaheira told the dragon.

... friend!?

“The young bhaalspawn is looking petulant and has been bristling since you arrived, might I inquire why?” The wyrm brought her head closer to the party.

Hmm ... I doubt a Great Silver would much care why a puny Bhaalspawn is upset.

It's morphing time! Go go go Drower Rangers... *ahem*

“Now we plan!” Viconia announced and motioned for the party to come closer. “It is of the utmost importance that you listen to Viconia now and heed her advice.”

I think it would be best if, once again, Groder was excused from commenting...

Luv-er-ly chapter! Update soon.

Well, it was.

“Indeed, we are far from ready to take on a demon.” Jaheira commented. “Simply making sure it cannot escape from its domicile will have to suffice I think.”

They do but not these I am afraid.

“It’s behind us?” Imoen moaned.

"Oh no it isn't!"

Oh, yes it is!

The thing walked upright like a man but was hunched over as the tunnels were too small for its size. Its skin was grey and drawn over bulging taut muscles. With a face only a mother could love!

“He’s naked.” Nalia squeaked and turned a bit red in the cheeks.

 Bless her innocent little socks :o

He he... It is fun isn`t it?

“I want to know what the small ones are doing here.” The demon said. “Are they female with their small squeaky voices that grate on my mind?”

“Heh… Even a demon…” Viconia muttered very quietly.

I've been reading long enough to understand that joke. Hoorah for me! I never understand in-jokes!

Yay! That is always good!

Nalia nodded and the two began moving their hands in intricate patterns and chanting words of power. I don't think that'd really stop him, but for all those silly little gnomes know, he's dead meat *mischievous cackle*

Of course. But the gnomes won`t go there anymore anyways.

He saw a shot and took it.

“Well, I never really saw any… naked men before and…” The young redhead said.

Sheltered, sheltered little Nalia. If anyone can erase however many years of noble upbringing, it's our Immy. It's only a mtter of time.

Oh yes! Immy will be a baaad influence alright!

“Actually some Drow matrons have been known to lie with demons in exchange for power or to get powerful half-blood offspring.” Viconia informed sagely.

In the game of Lolth, you do eveything to win!

“I would like that; I want to take a look at your spells as well.” She smiled a bit. “My selection has not always been the best since my teacher saw magic as more of a hobby then anything else and I was of course not supposed to do any magic or anything else a proper noble lady shouldn’t brook with.”

Hey! This must be why she deoesn't know trusty ol' maggic missile at the beginning!

Most likely! Her spellselection was not that excellent. Makes you wonder why she had polymorph self?

“Well, some of us actually get along with people you know.” Imoen snorted and crossed her arms over her chest.

Groder gets along with people! There's ... err ... I'll get back to you on that.

He gets along famously with people, watch how well he will get along with the Drow!

Jaheira took the diamond before Groder could reach for it and secured it in her pack. Groder shot her an annoyed look.

I think somebody is pining for role as leader and is not hiding her jadedness very well. ;)

She practically is leader anyways...

Yep, foot in mouth is not good when you speak to dragons.

“Wha?” Groder looked genuinely surprised and a dark look began falling over his face.

*bows*

“Ah… He is so very cute like that no?” Haer`Dalis commented.

Oh la la! Sneaking in there whilst he's distracted, are we?

Oh yes! He takes hsi chances!

“My lady, Viconia is a valued ally and a friend. She is not aligned with any of the Underdark gods.” Jaheira told the dragon.

... friend!?:D

Well, they have been bonding.

“The young bhaalspawn is looking petulant and has been bristling since you arrived, might I inquire why?” The wyrm brought her head closer to the party.

Hmm ... I doubt a Great Silver would much care why a puny Bhaalspawn is upset.

It is her maternal feelings that are going overboard since her eggs are missing or something...

Well, at least they won`t be wearing spandex and fighting eh... other guys in spandex.

“Now we plan!” Viconia announced and motioned for the party to come closer. “It is of the utmost importance that you listen to Viconia now and heed her advice.”
