I have to apologize to the readers for my sudden disappearance and lack of updates – I was on vacation. I also have to announce that sadly I have to temporarily withdraw from the Attic, mostly because of my personal problem with time management.

I am however not stopping writing any of my stories, and am going to post the update announcements here if the moderators will allow me, or will ask Leo to do it in the Announcements section if they would not. Today I finally finished the next chapter of the ‘Bitter Grey Ashes’ and it can be found on its mirror web site at : http://www.onlinefic...itterAshes.html as Chapter Twenty Three : http://www.onlinefic...Ashes_ch23.html

Each of my ‘big’ Chapters is usually made of 3-4 small Attic format chapters. The new part is the finale of Chapter Twenty Three and it deals with the performance that Jonny and Omwo were supposed to make for the halfling audience in Dragon Perch. I have to say that I was highly influenced by the Shakespearean plays I saw in London last week. Hopefully it is somewhat funny.

Again, my apologies for not posting the story here, hopefully the readers who are reading Ashes will be able to follow the link easily.

And how was your vacation on ol' Albion? (that right? :D )

It was a bit confusing with the chapters and all, and the new serials forum, but I think I'm up to date again :)
So if you need anything looked over, for possible sheep findings or otherwise, just let me know :)

Dorotea Dorotea Dorotea fiagro! Maginifico-o-o-o!

Well if you won't post here, I'll still respond here, so nyerr. :)

Oh, it may interest you to know the diret link to the chapter produces a 404 error; I had to go to the site to access it.

As the evening progressed, Omwo moved around passing from fire to fire, exchanging silly jokes, and telling one or the other out of his endless queue of stories about his exploits in the Great Desert, and in the Water Woman's temple, modestly omitting the part about the treasure. Soon, the little actor was practicality glowing from all the attention he was getting. To my utter amusement, I discovered that he was rather vain, and not immune to the charms of his rosy-cheeked curly-haired kinswomen. Surprisingly enough, some of the ladies (even though a little shy at first) tended to forget about his baldness and homely frog-like countenance, charmed by his jovial disposition and dashing, roguish manners. It should also be noted that while I was exploring the village, he had had adventures of his own. At least one of the results was very obvious: the halfling had exchanged his tattered green robes for a colorful local outfit of home-spun wool, which included a knitted vest of such a virulent combination of red and purple that it made my eyes hurt. I suspected Olphara's little kitchen maid Allice was responsible.

And why not? Why shouldn't he enjoy the company of women? You should learn from him on that point Jonno! (This is coming, mind, from someone who normally sides with Jonno against Omwo.)

Was she seriously upset with me? I wondered idly, promising to myself yet again to be easier on the romantically inclined maiden. After all, I did not want her to lose interest in me altogether, or start nurturing any ideas of revenge in her pretty head. The memory of the tricks that she had played on me in Amkethran was fresh enough, and I wondered if Chyil still had the dry snake head that was Mirri's first token of affection. To think of it, my magic started to return after I met Mirriam, and the Water Woman's prophecy clearly stated that my life would depend on my association with the twins. All of a sudden, I wished I had taken the reptile’s head with me as a good luck charm, but then decided the girl herself was a decent substitute. Nevertheless, I could not stop thinking about how much did Mirriam share with the halfling matron. Blast it - I was not used to be the object of female gossip!

Sigh....Jon jon jon jon jon.

At some point I got really caught up in all that nonsense, and when my loquacious partner switched from the valiant sagas of the old days to the modern tales of heroes, fighting sinister cults of dark gods, monsters of the Underdark, and evil necromancers, I made him a nice flash of crimson light fringed with black out of which flew a small but very noisy bat. The creature made a few circles around the fires, screeching loudly, and disappeared with another flash of light - this time of dark yellow shade. I was rather proud of that little trick, but Omwo gave me a dirty look, which I suppose was a tribute to the splat of guano that the critter deposited right at the center of his shiny bald skull to the great delight and excitement of the hin children. That episode was of course my revenge for his prank with the firepepper in my soup, and it taxed my ability of arcane persuasion to the limit. By itself, summoning the animal of that size was a relatively easy task that I was able to perform since the first days of my recovery, when my magic ability was reawakened in Amkethran. But controlling the planar creature's motion and making all the appropriate small illusions was an entirely different matter. After that occasion, the performance went on its merry way without further incidents.

Hah!! Good one Jonno!

I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop...since Jon remembers this nite so well something must've happened...

Marvelous. :) I did not acquire the british accent but had to see the Queen from the distance about 5 meters. It was absolutely unexpected and very odd, since we were not planning this, but she just happened to be in Scotland at the time. British are really fond of telling horror stories, I have seen 2 plays: Corialanus and Richard the 3rd ( with Duke of Glouster played by a woman - but she was excellent!) I also seen a lot of very old buildings and palaces from inside, so hopefully I have something to write about for the next year or so. :)

Allright! I shall send you the next one for sure - but I did post this part in the Dungeon if you are curious. The previous one was about the silver dragon.

Cheers!

I see. You are really set on making me get this second bucket of dreadful dark liquid (I hope it is not embalming fluid) and a new title. I hoped to stay a Sage till the end of my days but nuh - you just have to make me post the this one. :) Now what I am going to be - a 'guru' ?

Nifty reward for spreading turmoil and writing stories that nobody reads anyway. :)

I fixed the link by the way - it should work now. And the next part is hopefully going to be the one I was anticipating writing for the last three months. :D

Oh Jonny is only good at eating his own liver, and being jealous when he is not the center of attention. It is one of them dog-in-the-manger cases, and plus he can only want something when it is not easily awailable.

Hah!! Good one Jonno!

I am glad you liked it. :D I hope you will like the next one , although it may take a while to finish - I am gun shy.

Thanks for commenting!

Dorotea, you are one of the most popular, most liked, most read authors here. Only Weyoun and Laufey draw more consistently than you, and they are fans of yours, as am I. What greater testimonial do you need?

If you feel you cannot devote as much time to teh attic as you used to, that's your decision to make, but I know how well liked you are here. Please stop being so down on yourself. you are one of the primo writers here. How is it you cannot know this? :) :D

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you beleive that when people give you unqualified praise it is not genuine? I know it is in my case; I'm fairly sure it is for Laufey and Weyoun.

If your busy, youre busy. But please don't beleive no one reads your stuf. Please don't think that.

Don't be! You are a DAmn good Writer. You were right, by the way; I went out and bought a new TOB disc so I could keep playing, so that when your mod is finally done I can have Jon in my party. :)

It most definitely is! Dorotea, you are one of my favorite Attic writers, and I mean every word I say. Now, I've already commented elsewhere...but I still hope you'll stick around here. :)

Oh dear, oh dear. Thank you anyway. The problem is not that I don't believe I cannot write a decent story - as a matter of fact I think I can, but the stories I write are never anything that everybody would like. Most of the time there is someone who would be quite offended. And the thing is - I am not going to change my ways, so I will never be 'popular'. Shrug. And yes, I shall try harder to work on the LR. Fingers in too many pots again ...

See, I was firmly set on never coming here except to post the update announcements, and the day after I decided this, I got dragged into another 'lovely' discussion. Blast my temperament. I am still not sure if I will continue posting Ashes here. I guess I will decide when I have the next 'big' chapter ready.

You are ever so kind ... I guess I will keep coming here out of the old habit until I continue writing BG fics. And since I intend to finish my current few stories I will continue sticking my nose into Attic. Now, it is entirely different story if it is wise of me. I have a feeling I am not welcome here, but you and Acralian will keep dragging me out of my hole. Sigh.
