Chapter 17: Goddess of Light
*******************************

The fighting was intense, shouts of the wounded echoed the night. Fire burned and the death filled up the fortress gates. The only living standing among the wounded and dead were Lord Anomen, Lady Finn and the paladin-in-command, Sir Alan. All that was left of the undead lich was his evil mask and staff. He had been disintegrated by Lady Finn's holy magic. Lord Anomen did not look pleased, he had been wounded by a bolt from a crossbow and he calmly pulled the offending bolt from his shoulder. Blood gushed out and he winced in pain for a brief moment, a golden wave of light stopped the bleeding and close the wound. He turned his attention towards his enemies standing across him.

Lady Finn didn't look too well either, she had an immense battle of arcane arts with the lich and Sir Alan had assisted her in time, to strike the lich while she removed its protections. In the end, it was her Goddess's holy smite that had killed the lich.

Praise the Goddess for her holy blessing.

Sir Alan stood six feet tall, under the crest of the Most Noble Order of Radiant Hearts flying above him. He had been in the Order's service for nearly thirty years, he had been a powerful force against Evil and he was determined to end the dark knight's evil rein once and for all. He too was wounded in the battle, he suffered two poisoned arrows in his leg and Lady Finn had neutralised the poison for him.

"So its just you and me then.." Anomen spat and sneered at the paladin. "The Order's becoming so pathetic.. sending an old man with half his feet already in his grave? HAHAHAAAA!"

"You cannot hope to win against the Light. I shall be the light that destroy your darkness!" The paladin drew his blade and prepared to charge at the dark knight.

Anomen laughed, he turned his eyes onto the quiet female standing besides Sir Alan. She was tall for an elf, on her robe bears the sign of the moon. She hold a moon blade as her weapon. Anomen had seen a moon blade before, a long time ago, he had seen a moon blade in the hands of Enielle in Sudanessella.

The blade chose its wielder, only an elf with a heart of gold may be worthy of the blade.

"Who are you mage? Why are you opposing me?" Anomen was more interested in the elven lady. "I'm a mage, a priestess of my Goddess of Light. She had come to me, bade me to save your soul, to bring Light to your dark soul again. She wants to save you, Lord Anomen. She wants you to remember the light that once shone in your heart. The love, you once felt. Do you remember?" Lady Finn took a step towards the dark knight, her musical voice soothing to the ears.

"My heart died a long time ago... I don't remember anything."

"You lied. Your heart is cold, but not yet dead. I see in the corner of your soul, where you hide that feeling, that feeling that stirred your memories.. and your pain" the priestess voice was softer now.

"SILENCE! I will hear NO MORE."

"No. You remembered. She who once touched your heart, she who once was the beacon of light in your world. She whom you ONCE LOVED with ALL YOUR HEART! DO YOU REMEMBER?" the priestess's voice raising with each word, and at her last sentence, a blinding golden light glowed behind her. Anomen took a step backwards and tried to see beyond the blazing light.

The priestess turned around and bowed respectfully to the ethereal being. She smiled at her and nodded her approval. With a wave of her hand, Lady Finn stepped aside. Sir Alan bowed and stepped aside with Lady Finn.

"You have done well, my priestess and her ally. Your task is completed. Go and heal your wounds." The Paladin bowed and allowed Lady Finn to lead him away.

"Anomen, my love..." the golden light faded to reveal the beautiful elven Goddess.

"Enielle? No... You are.." Anomen was overwhelmed with a flood of emotions within him, he was happy and unprepared for the turn of events.

"My love.. I've come for you..." The Goddess stretched her hand towards Anomen but he only stared at her, his surprised face slowly fading to reveal one of anger and hate.

"You BETRAYED me. I hate you. How dare you showed your face? Get out of my sight. Don't think I can't kill you. My blade can kill anything godly beings or no." He scowled at her.

Enielle looked hurt, she signed, looking at the handsome dark knight. "Don't lose your life because of me... my love.. I had never betray you.." she tried again to reach into Anomen.

"LIAR! I SAW YOU WITH THAT MAN! YOU SHAMELESS WENCH!!" Anomen drew his blade, he had swore to kill her, even if she is a Goddess.

--------

Four figures ran out of the fortress and crashed onto the battlefield. Imoen and Kelsey stared at the ethereal being of a Goddess. Enielle and Anomen stood stunned.

Enielle...

Kelsey thought he would never see her again, after she chose to be ascended to Godhood. He squeezed Imoen's hand, he needed to feel that Imoen was near him.

The etherneal Enielle smiled at Kelsey. She turned to Enielle and Anomen, "You two don't belong here. Do you wish to go back?"

The two lovers nodded, they wished for nothing but to go back. With a wave of her hand, the Goddess used her powers to open a dimension door.

"Go then and be true to each other."

To Anomen, she spoke into his heart, "Listen only to your true heart, for there is Goodness in you yet."

Anomen smiled, he knew then how his Enielle would be, if she had chosen to ascend as well. He would be very proud of her but yet he knew his heart would break, if he would no longer look upon her with mortal eyes. He looked at his elven bride, she was looking at him too, her eyes sparkled. Without any further words, Anomen held his true love's hand and lead her towards their home. The dimension door closed behind them.

Chapter 18: Retribution
***********************************

The Goddess turned her attention towards her ex-lover, the one whose soul had been corrupted by hate and anger. He looked defiantly at her, his blade hanging by his side, ready to strike when he willed it.

My love, its been five years, five long years since you left me. Everything I do, I did it for you..

She spoke into him, he stared at her angrily. "Get out of my head. I will hear no more lies!"

Anomen... Listen to your heart.. I hear it calling for me, and I call for you in return.

Enielle tried again, she could feel his pain, his hatred and frustration.

Anomen stood up to his full height, he felt his heart calling for her. It had been five years indeed, five long years, five long years of lonely nights, and anger at himself for his longing for her. He was silence for he was both angry and sad at the same time. He looked at the beautiful goddess in front of him, he knew she could hear his thoughts, see through his shell and into the deepest corner of his soul. He could hear her calling, but he was not willing to give up the anger for her betrayal.

I love you Anomen, still, always and forever. Yet you cannot see beyond the illusion, cannot feel beyond your hate and anger. Very well, I will let treachery unfold itself.
The goddess signed, with a wave of her hand, a portal opened and a man dressed in a mage robe stepped out. Anomen recognized the face of the newcomer immediately.

"Yusef Farruard!" He tightened his grip on his blade hilt.

"Haaaa.. Delryn whelp. I am pleased that you have sink to this depth. Your soul is condemn for the abyss. Sweet revenge.... Haaaaa.." He laughed evilly.

"Shut up wraith. I am powerful, powerful enough to cut you up."

"Haaaa.. you really are pathetic do you know? Whatever powers you have, it will be no use in the abyss. And you think I would let you get away with the murder of my SISTER, my father? I swore revenge on you Delryn! And I HAVE IT!!! HAAAAA!"

"Enough Yusef! Get to the point." Enielle ordered, she was not here to torture Anomen, but here to save his soul and she would not have the man hurt her love.

"Very well. I followed your trail, awaiting an opportunity to take my revenge on you. And I did not have to wait long. He gave me the perfect opportunity to hurt you in the most cruel way I can think of, the PERFECT revenge." his eyes looking at the innocent Kelsey standing at one side.

Kelsey looked stunned, he was aware that the others were looking at him. He shifted uneasily, at his side, Imoen slipped her hand away from his. She looked confused and uncertain.

Kelsey, Please, tell me you didn't do anything to hurt Enielle...

"That sorcerer had a hand in it? He was your accomplice?" Anomen asked.

"Nay, though he was very naughty one day. You see, he too had eyes for your Goddess. He too desired her and he was bitter by her rejection. He wanted her too." Yusef continued, he smiled at Kelsey while Anomen growled.

"The soccer put a sleeping spell on you, whelp. One that would give the worse of a nightmare, or so he taught. Haaaaa.. He never suspected that I had increased the potency of the spell with a master illusion. You FOOL!!"

Kelsey froze. It was something he did when he was still hurt by Enielle's rejection. He had lost his cool when he saw how Anomen had smirked at his victory. He had seen Enielle and Anomen kissing, heard them making love and it had hurt him terribly. He had wanted to punish Anomen for his arrogance. It was not anything to hurt Enielle. He would never hurt her. She was everything to him then, even her rejection.

"I.. I didn't know... I.. Imoen... Please let me explain" Kelsey stammered. He was completely stunned. He could not imagine that a small revenge for his dignity manifested to a huge tragedy. Imoen stared at him in disbelief. Her eyes said it all, they were flashing with anger and her mouth twitching. She stepped away shaking her head from Kelsey, slowly, her finger pointing at him.

"You did this??? You... destroyed Enielle's life! You destroyed her happiness. She didn't have to ascend. She didn't have to!! You pushed her to it. There was nothing left for her in the mortal world. Anomen was EVERYTHING to her and you knew it!!" Imoen's tears ran down her face, she buried her face into her hands and weeped. She knew that her sister would go when Solar told her of her choices. There was nothing left for her in the mortal world. Her heart was dead when Anomen left her. Not even her sisterly love could warm her heart.

Kelsey looked at Imoen, his face full of guilt. His eyes wetting with tears but he held them back. He had never expect to hurt all he loved, with just a simple spell, just one night of sweet revenge and it was an innocent one too. He had just wanted to watch Anomen looked afraid, to laugh back at him. He approached Imoen but Imoen stepped back, she did not want him near her. His heart felt the pain of rejection a second time in his life, this time was more painful than the first.

"Well, I took the opportunity to strike you where it'll hurt most, Delryn. It was easy too, you were so hung up on your Lady. For you to see her happy in another man's bed would be a huge blow to your ego and to you! I have to admit my ingenious! HAAAAA... And I know you will be foolish enough, foolish to believe it. I could have planned it real too, but your Lady here is quite resistance to drugs and domination, so I just lured her away and trapped you. And your black heart did the rest...."

"I'll kill you for this!" Anomen waved his blade and before anyone could stop him, he lunged forward at Yusef.

Yusef was faster, he drew his dagger and stabbed Anomen in the chest, his blade cutting his armor and sank deep into the dark knight's chest.

"NO! ANOMEN!!" Enielle froze the time, she caught Anomen in her arms as he fell from the blow. As time moved again, a burning man screaming in agony before all was silence again except for the soft sobs of a Goddess over her dying knight.
