--Chapter Seven--
--Stupid Umber Hulks...--

"TAKE THIS! AND THIS! AND THIS!" Korgan was shouting, gleefully slamming both his axes in a troll. The poor creature was almost dead, and Korgan managed to slam down in one gigantic hit, and Kyron finished it off with a Burning Hands spell (much to his disguist). Korgan had managed to find an enchanted axe upstairs in a secret stash which Nalia showed him, and so now he's much enjoying his twin axes.

The party is at the, er, "cellars". They were in a large room that housed three trolls, two of which are dead. Kita flung a throwing dagger at the troll's eyes and Nalia and Jan blasted it with magic, while Yoshimo attacked it with his bow, and Korgan jogged happily towards the monster. Soon, it fell to a crossbow bolt and a Flame Arrow.
"That be fun." Korgan told everyone.

Kita peeked though the door leading to the next room, and discovered, much to her horror, it contained four Umber Hulks. Quietly closing the door, she said to her friends "There's four umber hulks in there."
"Umber hulks, is it?" Jan said. "Too bad I don't have my ultra-handy Jansen-Brand UmberKiller ™ here. Could kill those ratty things with a single blast."
"They don't look much like rats to me." Kita said.
"Yes, but nonetheless. You don't look like much of an elf to me, either."
"But I'm not an elf."
"She's not an elf." Kyron said.
"The lass be right." Korgan added.
"Oh, that's right! Team up on the poor gnome, is it? Well, let me tell you something: bad people don't get turnips from Santa Jansen!"
"Who's Santa Jansen?" Nalia asked with interest. The door creaked behind them, but everyone ignored it.
"Santa Jansen," Jan said, now suddenly delighted. "Is a lovely chubby gnome dressed in a red turnip sack. Each year, on a specific day he flies around on his turnip sliegh pulled by reindeers, and he goes all across Faerun to give good children turnips, which are made by thousands of imps. Let me tell you about that time when he flew into a griffon lair..."
"SHUT UP!" everyone but Jan shouted.
"Errm." Jan said. "Kit, friend? I think our friend wants to talk."
Kita turned around and saw an umber hulk staring back at her.

"I hate my life." Kyron shouted, as the party ran back into the first room. Behind them, they heard the walls being smashed, and an umber hulk charged into the room they're in. Jan threw another of his device at it, and his device blew up, blasting the creature unconcious. Korgan sent it into the Negative Plane by chopping on where they assumed its head is. With an earthshaking rumble, the wall was smashed, and three more umber hulks charged forth.
"I'll be damned." Kyron said as he launched a fireball. Korgan drew a throwing axe from his belt and hurled it at the nearest umber hulk; it fell with a crash. Yoshimo and Jan's weapons found its mark on the umber hulk's arm, and it was finally defeated by a well-placed Magic Missile from Nalia. The last umber hulk used its massive claws to smite Kita out of the way and into a bookcase, and made its way towards Kyron, who dodged its attack and fired a spell. Korgan threw another axe, and it cut the hulk's arm clean off. It roared in pain, and Jan killed it with a bomb of some sort.
"I'm...never...going...to...the...Underdark..." Kita panted, as she climbed up from a mess of books.

A single troll stood in what seemed to be an abandoned church. It was huge, massive, and looked different to the other trolls; it had a reddish tinge instead of green, and Kyron noted that he had massive claws.
"You die! We eats good!" the troll roared, and charged valiantly at the closest enemy, and unfortunatly for him, that perticular individual was Korgan...

"A SKULLBREAKER!" Korgan yelled with bloodlust as he slammed both his axes in the troll leader's stomach, and then instantly taking it out, jumping on the troll's fallen body, and continued cutting him. Oddly shaped intestines flew out, as well as a lot of blood. Kyron finally dispatched it with a Burning Hands spell.
"Father?" he heard Nalia shout behind him, and she trotted up to a statue, where a body of a human male was lying, face down. Nalia turned him around, and gasped.

The rest of the party approached the body, and knew that he probably could never be raised. He was missing an arm and both his legs, as well as half his face, which looks like it was being chewed off. He was soaked in blood, and in his hands he held a flail which glowed with power.
The Flail of Ages.

Kita inhaled deeply as the party exited the keep and procedded outside to a camp Captain Arat had told them about earlier...she didn't like dungeons. They usually smell, she concluded (You never cease to amaze me, Kyron said). Nalia was relieved to see Lady Caan at the camp, while everyone else seemed rather angry (including the Captain, whom she was lecturing to) that she wasn't killed by trolls.
After much fuss over the late Lord de'Arnise, Nalia pulled the party aside. "I want to talk to you people." she said, and they walked out of the camp, out of earshot.
"Since my father is dead..." Nalia begun.
"What! We'll still be gettin' our pay, right?!" Korgan questioned hastily. Nalia looked at him and nodded. "Yes, indeed, you'll still get paid."
"Good, lass." Korgan said, then continued to stand away from the others.
"As I was saying..." Nalia continued. "The Roenalls would probably then come and take over the keep, now."
"Are you suggesting something?" Kita asked.
"Well, I was thinking...perhaps...one of you...can, er, run the keep...for me?"
"What?!" they all cried in unison.
"It may sound absurd, but it's easier than you would think! You would just have to deal with some minor land issues and such, and it isn't exactly like that either-nobody would ever believe me if I ruled the keep by myself. I'm proposing a partnership, of sorts...one of you just have to make sure the Roenalls keeps their
hands off the keep."
"Interesting." Kyron said. "But who should rule it?"
"A plot, is it?" Jan said happily. "I could feel my little toe wriggling! It's the sign of danger and lots of money rolling in!"
"Money, you say?!" Korgan asked, suddenly paying attention.
"Yes, you'll be able to gain money. About 500GP each week." Nalia informed them.
"Well, the question is, who should rule the keep." Yoshimo said.
"Me, obviously." Kita said.
"Well," Nalia said.
"She thinks you're immature." Kyron told her simply.
"Oy! I want to lead, lassie!" Korgan shouted. "I'll be nay letting those Roenalls touch a finger on this land, or I'll chop it off!"
"Normally, I would agree, dear...Korgan." Nalia said. "But you're not very...charismatic...if you know what I mean."
"Hrrrmph." Korgan growled.
"Well, I've got a family business to run-although a keep wouldn't sound too bad for a turnip factory!"
"No, no, Jan, we need more of a warrior." Nalia said hastily.
Everyone paused and pondered for a while, then, all eyes were on Kyron.
"What! I'm no warrior! I'm a sorcerer, for...Mystra's sake!" Kyron cried, looking a bit...nervous at the attention. Kita chuckled and noted to use this to her advantage next time they bicker.
"Perhaps, but you're the smartest and wisest and most charismatic and the one who have the most travelling experience in us all." Nalia said, not allowing Jan to interrupt...but it was too late.
"Smart, wise, and charismatic, and travelling experience?" Jan said. "I know a brilliant young gnome by the name of Jen who is not only smart, wise, charismatic, and also downright handsome. He liked turnips too, like any good gnome should. Let me tell you about the time he cleared out the Greywing Griffons: he took out his axe, and charged valiantly into battle with his good friend, Count Turnipsome, besides him. The two gnomes swung their weapons left and right, and..."
"Jan, please." Nalia said. "Kyron, would you be willing to take the keep?"
Kyron blinked twice...
"Yes...I...guess so."
"Great then!" Nalia exclaimed as she happily ran towards the camp, and all but Kita and Kyron followed.
"I told Nalia." Kyron said.
"You think she's trustworthy?"
"Yes..."
"Anyway!" Kita said excitedly. "Are you sure you have time to manage a keep?"
"No, but what the hell."
Kita patted Kyron on the back.
"That's the spirit!"
