Merlinious is the online name of a gamer who has been playing Dungeons & Dragons equivalent since the mid 70s. He has been a Pencil and Paper Dungeon Master, played a character up to 29th level godhood and for ten plus years retired without a group to game with. He started playing CRPG with Baldur's Gate after a friend from his college days told him it was almost as fun as the days of no sleep and crashed out gamers waiting for someone to bring them back all in a small apartment. Since then he has taken up CRPG to complement his Strategy War Gaming and is the proud owner of Baldur's Gate I & II and IceWind Dale. For the more mundane side he is a Senior Projects Manager with a computer manufacturer who likes to help the engineers test the newer equipment on some of the multiplayer games. He also has written three novels around Fantasy settings and is working on another couple currently just for relaxation (none published (yet)).

New Powers - To Use or To Refuse?

You have finished the quest, rid the realms of Jon Irenicus casting him where the demons can torture him, regained your soul, and received your acclamations. However, you also managed to get some really nice powers at the very end as you opened the eye portal to get to Irenicus. Your character is awaiting the promised expansion pack from Bioware along with his trusted (or if you took the evil route, maybe not so trusted) companions. The question is do you want to be able to play the expansion
with your new abilities intact so that you can see how it feels to, maybe take the first step towards godhood, or would you rather leave them behind, taking the hard core gamer route in the expansion?

Feel free to write a short story about the use of the new powers, or refusal to use them. Good luck, friends! :(
