Silrana is an old-timer in the D&D world. She can remember when 1st edition AD&D was new, and you could still get the old Greyhawk and Blackmoor miniatures rules in hobby stores. She played all through high school and college, which were more years ago than she likes to admit to, spending most of her time being the Dungeon Master. She has spent most of her gaming life in the Greyhawk world, but is slowly adjusting to the Forgotten Realms.
After college it became difficult to hook up with people to game with, and she had a long dry spell with no gaming. Then she discovered the SSI gold box games and her interest was renewed. Her very first computer game of any kind was Pools of Radiance, which came on 5-1/4 floppy disks and was played in DOS. She happily played those games for quite some time, and she believes that the plots of any of them could be plugged into the Infinity Engine and be best sellers. Her gaming interest waned again however, when D&D games began to be made in first-person perspective. She found them to be unrealistic and difficult to play. She had to be satisfied with other computer games, but D&D had always been her first love.
Of course, word of a new upcoming game called Baldur's Gate brought her back to the D&D CRPG fold, especially when she heard that the ambitious new game was returning to the 'whole party' view. She has also played Icewind Dale, and will unashamedly admit that BG2 has taken over her free time.
In her real life, Silrana is married with two little girls, Samantha who is seven (and a half, she always adds), and Casey who is nearly three. Husband Carl is mostly tolerant, with the occasional grumble about competing for time on the gaming computer. Silrana works in a crime laboratory, doing computer evidence recovery, following many years as a drug chemist. Her non-computer related hobbies are gardening, reading everything she can get her hands on, and couponing & refunding. Her ultimate goal is to buy a small farm and be a cyber-homesteader.
What If?!
Wouldn't it be great if...? How many times have we asked that question? Wouldn't it be great if- that character was available for a romance with the PC, those two party members could fall in love, that NPC had been able to join the party? If that character could have told off another one, or just given them a swift kick in the pants?
In this topic, we get to play my very favorite game, "what if?" This quiz will be devoted to things that you wish could have happened in the game, but didn't. Now I realize that no person can have played every single possibility, but as long as to the best of your knowledge something was not included in the game, go for it. And this is not restricted to romances and character interactions. Wish there had been a third way out of Spellhold? Another option besides the two thieves guilds? A totally different solution to a quest? It's time to show that creativity, and maybe even give Bioware some ideas!
