*nods* That weeks-long stall in City, right after the party hit the Underdark, was because Imoen showed up with all the details laid out for me while I standing was in the middle of the woods for four hours in a surveying class. She got a bit miffed that I couldn't take notes right then, and it took forever to lure her back.

I started carrying my tape recorder after that.

One thing I've noticed, and this has been going on for a while (and I am not in any way trying to be critical) is that some authors reveive more accolades than others because of their name value. There are so many good stories that are well written and original that get bypassed. An example is Darkmistresses' work. She's a great writer with a great deal of insight into her characters, but she seems to be ignored. I really feel that we need to encourage these writers instead of staying in our little circles.

It's certainly true that ideas are always being explored in other people's work. Luned for example: she's going to have Patricia give Anomen a gift, and I was also going to do that, but now I'm not sure because I don't want to give people the impression that I am copying her ideas.

Once again, I'm not saying this to flame anyone, but to make people aware of how other people may be feeling.

I know; I fear people will quit due to being ignored, as I almost did many times when I was first starting. Gaah, some of them look like they already have. And since we've removed the requirement that the host respond to all stories, some of them haven't... which I can understand given the traffic, but it was nice that the original hosting system meant everyone would get at least one response.

It's more upsetting with hosts who respond to most things but skip one or two. Then people feel not only ignored, but singled out to be ignored.

That said, I've been awful about that lately. At the beginning of the quiz, I was trying to be better about it, but I haven't been in a reading mood lately (more of a writing mood) so I'm actually completely behind on all but a few serii (err, serieses? :-(

I'm very similar, and have been known to discard independantly conceived ideas (as long as it's not too crucial to the plot) because I didn't want people to think I was stealing from them. I can honestly say I've never drawn inspiration from Attic stories (I've read stories and said "I wish I'd thought of that," but never take the step to include it) because I dislike the concept that people would use my unique ideas and as says the Golden Rule, I think it's best to extend the same courtesy to others, regardless of whether or not they mind it themselves.

CoM was planned out in isolation, before I was an Attic-Goer, while playing Darvith through the games. If you had access to my game journals, you'd know most of what will happen, though I spruced it up for flow when I started laying it out. It was originally intended as part of the original concept of Parallel Journeys - game-length fanfics covering the stories from different (alignment and personality wise) perspectives. My only inspiration was Leo's idea of writing a BG fanfic to begin with. When I got here, I opted for a series instead.

When we're all working from the same source the only thing that sets us aside from one another (other, obviously, than style and such like that) is whatever unique spin someone can put on something. I think it's only respectful to leave innovations to the innovator.

Coincidence is another story altogether of course, and quite common.

Hehehe, lucky it's a game, though. In PnP it might come up to take a look.

I really, really hate level drain. Not only is it a pain by itself, but then using the restoration spell exhausts your cleric. When it happens early, like this, you either have to rest at an inconvenient time, or listen to them crab at you constantly.

He's more understandable once you see some of his story that's in the romance track. Classic case of using arrogance to cover massive insecurity.

It was very challenging the first time through. I felt like a duck in a shooting gallery.

LOL! He just keeps forgetting that Anomen isn't 'officially' his squire. In the Order that sort of behavior wouldn't be considered unusual.

Just thought I'd dive in here and.... was that Flarn? Where....? Sorry... Wrong thread.

Anyway, I've been busy this weekend and find that I am now WAAAAAYYY behind on stuff. Great chapter.

I thought the Kel-Ano exchange was nice, too. Bad timing on Kel's part, yes - but I think when a superior officer sees that a student is doing something wrong, it needs to be addressed. Especially in a dungeon-crawl situation. You never know when a simple lesson would save your life.

I considered going through and commenting in more detail, but I don't want you to stress your arm responding back, and I don't think I can come up with appropriate multiple choice items to respond with. Of course, I could always cull some game dialogue... We all know how much context some of THAT has on what we'd really do... :-(

Take it easy on the appendage... Have your husband sit down and take dictation. ;D

That's how I figured Keldorn would see it, but doing it in a small room where the others couldn't help but hear... oh well.

The arm pain comes and goes, I save the typing for the 'good' periods. And don't you rag me about the game dialogue too, I only use what I find interesting or will work for the story. Wait until the confrontation with Cor, I've taken some delightful liberties with that dialogue, mixing up game and personal lines.

Whoops... Don't get me wrong. I don't mind the game dialogue at all. No offense meant to anyone at BW, but there are times when it is apparent that you've switched from original dialogue to the game - yours is usually quite a bit better. My comment here was just about the choices we are given for our responses. I look at them and say, "Nope... Nope... Nope... None of the above..."

As for the game dialogue, I like using it because it's the extra descriptions that make it unique. We all describe the same scene somewhat differently because we interpret the intent differently.

Well, day-labor is different from labor unions. Think rent-a-wino.

> Ah, see I haven't done the romance track, prehaps it's time, eh?

I'm including a lot of the romance dialogue in AC so that the guys can see why the ladies are more sympathetic to him. Well, up to a point, anyway. Anomen's not going to be giving Jarran a flower or asking him to go to bed with him.
