It's sad to see such a great writer  (and all around neat guy) pass away, though I am glad Mr. Pratchett is at peace now.   I've seen what dementia (Alzheimer's or otherwise) can do to a person, and it is a terrible thing.

He was the greatest. Some of the things people wrote upon his death brought it out to me again even more clearly. Like this one.

He was an amazing writer, I greatly admired him and was very sad to see him go. I'm currently rereading all of the Discworld novels to remind myself once again of just how awesome he was.
