What about some sort of emotional conflict challenge? Jaheira--or, if you've played the BG1 NPC project, Xan or Dynaheir--is probably going through some problems at the beginning of the romance. A paladin might have problems staying Lawful Good, and Yoshimo might even have problems betraying the PC.

And Bhaalspawn tend to receive a great deal of bad news. "I'm WHAT?! Gorion, why didn't you tell me?!" There's so much of it--everything from Gorion's letter to "hey, Immy's your sister, and I just removed her soul." Something about "no news is good news" could be interesting.

What about something about 'the big moment?' The climax, the big decision, the emotional moment.

The fight against Sarevok, the fight in Hell with Irenicus, these are all big, charged climaxes, and could make for amazing quiz material (or at least I think so. B))

"The big moment."

My mind went to a very different place from what you were talking about. I have been writing -way- too much crack-fic. B)

That being said, this gives me an excuse to do "the big fight scene," and I love those.

It's amazing that the PC and crew don't get caught at some very bad moments. Imagine: some jerk installed Circle/Square mod and a messenger shows up. :D  Or, to use a...cleaner...example, there's several quests mostly suitable for those of dubious moral character. What happens when a paladin gets caught robbing the temple of Talos? I suppose it would be either "bad timing" or "caught in the act." Could be entertaining ;)

Stories of redemption seem to be...not common, necessarily, but fairly popular. And while they can and often are interesting...how about a chance to drive someone round the bend? Corruption has the potential to be just as intriguing as redemption. What happens, say, if Keldorn actually loses control in his family quest? So...how about a chance to watch characters fall from grace?

How about the Favorite Monster? I'm sure we all have one. It need not even be a programmmed part of the game.

That's not a bad idea. I'll have to see if I can get the brain juices flowing. (stupid schoolwork sucks brain power. . . *grumble*)

I think a few folks have written stories like this before but how about 'The Day Before You Came' as a prompt? What were our NPC's up to the day before Ol' Charname turned up and changed their world forever... Or some such?

I think something like that has been done, but I seem to remember it spawned a lot of good stuff so I'd applaud a repeat of that.

Also, there was the 'There is no Spawn' quiz, like removing the PC from their universe and seeing what happens. That was pretty awesome. :)

Oh dear God.

I'm just imagining how that one could go.

And the first thing that pops into my mind?

SHALE.

People who've played Dragon Age will know exactly where I'm going with that, but since you haven't, Naz, a little backstory. Shale is a cranky as all get-out dwarven woman who, a looooooooooooong time ago, volunteered to have her mind/soul/whatever put into a golem so she could help defend her home city against invasion from raging hellspawn. Somehow she ended up in the hands of some wizard who used her as a servant/minion/thug and, when he didn't need her, stationed her outside, immovable, in the middle of the village, like some kind of statue. Eventually, the wizard died, the people of the village began to believe Shale -was- just a statue and did things like adorn her with tacky decorations and spread birdseed around her and all of that.

The kicker was, though, that while she couldn't move, she... was awake and aware for the whole thing. And she spent years as a statue. Kinda wondering how she didn't go completely nuts, but she -has- developed a rather... intense... hatred of pigeons as a result. :D

Just looking on gamefaqs and it seems, according to them anyway, Throne of Bhaal was released on the 21st June 2001, in North America anyway. Europeans had to wait until 20th July. In any case, we're around the tenth anniversary of the games final installment, so maybe the occasion should be marked in some way... a what they're doing ten years on quiz, or some such thing.

Although me, I'm probably just going to get right royally p*****. Most of my friends won't know why, but sod 'em.

By Jove, I think we've got a quiz topic.

Starting 21st June, new Quiz. 10th Anniversary of Kicking Mellisan's pasty, skinny butt!

I'm sure I've already suggested something along the lines of favorite monsters, but I thought something having to do with that might be fun for October.

Momentos...

Those things that remind our hero about their past. It could be an earring, or any piece of jewery, a favorite weapon, a letter or writing from their distaint past. Maybe even that rodent carried in a pocket!!

Get personal... Share the moment... the memories... Let us see into their ticking heart and clouded mindes.

Most of all!!! Have fun!!!

Cheers...
