A male conjurations student greeted Resar, Lanthanos and Tahl. He stopped three feet away, bowed to all present. His dark green robe had only been altered with gold brocade along the seams and sleeves. In contrast to the minor alterations on his robe, he had a rather full black goatee, shaved into a maze like pattern of interlocking geometric designs. "My name is Hladarsis, and I am undertaking apprenticeship under Mistress Najaroon as her fifth apprentice starting next year. Mistress Najaroon will be leading the circle today, and has asked me to greet you on her behalf. The concentration of the circle is almost fully gathered now. Do you have everything you will need? Are there any spell components we can refill from our stores?" The young man offered nervously. Asking the two mage hounds if they needed any spell components wasn't implying that they were unprepared; it was simply a common courtesy.

"We have spell components for our journey, thank you." Resar answered politely. "Very good job on getting an apprenticeship, Hladarsis, you must have had quite a good recommendation from your teachers to get apprenticed to an Elder so soon after graduation." Resar said smoothly. He gave Hladarsis a calculated appraising look. Lanthanos tried to not let any annoyance show on his face. The way Resar played people irked him. This young man was obviously being groomed to become an Elder eventually, whether he lived up to it or not remained to be seen, but Resar was getting his foot in the door now.

Hladarsis smiled awkwardly, but did not elaborate.

"I am Mage Hound Resar, third apprentice of Wharskatun Sardotham, then sixth apprentice of Mage Hound Mirsherpef, and this impatient looking associate of mine is Mage Hound Lanthanos, and since he's not given to introducing himself properly," Resar flashed him a vengeful smile,"I will introduce him instead. He's the only living apprentice who served under Sijorace Jalamber. After she was executed for the business with the fiends, Mage Hound Perikriasah took him in and trained him up as a mage hound. Only Azuth knows what he would have been if not." Resar smirked, obviously pleased he could both annoy Lanthanos and give this young wizard a piece of interesting 'secret' information to pursue all at the same time.

Lanthanos crossed his arms and waited. Resar had hit the mark with Sijorace. But he'd missed with Perikriasah. Or, perhaps Resar was using this statement to try to goad him into the conversation.

"Why did she summon hell hounds into a public picnic? How could she have expected to get away with that?" Hladarsis asked.

"The woman was insane." He answered firmly. "She'd already gotten away with opening a gate to the hells in her tower and feeding her whole family and most of her apprentices to the hell hounds." Lanthanos answered. "Sijorace was a textbook case of why we have mage hounds."

"Why didn't you stop her?" Hladarsis asked, and Lanthanos gave him a long, deliberate stare.

"Because even though everyone told me what a terribly bright young man I was, I was about as observant as a piece of toast. By the time I knew that anything was going on, I was hanging by hold person enchanted meat hooks with all the older apprentices." He said bitterly. "Now, unless you two want to quickly convene a council of Elders to look into this, I'm not answering another question on Sijorace. We have a current mission we should be concentrating on. We're being teleported into a thieves guild in Baldur's Gate. How are we getting back?"

"The circle is going to teleport Mistress Najaroon, myself, Mistress Beledeeb and you three to a spot several miles south of Saradush. We have set up a base of operations there. From there, you three will further teleport to the thieves guild. That means that when you are done, you will be able to teleport back to our base right outside of Saradush and then we can further teleport everyone back here." He said. "Once Beledeeb gets us clearance of course."

"Mistress Beledeeb is coming along?" Resar asked, clearly puzzled, but trying to appear to be pleasantly surprised. His eyes betrayed that, however.

"She seems quite interested in visiting Saradush."

Resar certainly knows how to network, something that Lanthanos should learn.

Who is Beledeeb? What is her rank? She must be formidable if Resar seems uncomfortable around her. Is she taking an interest in the Bhaalspawn matter, given that she is heading to Saradush? Whatever business she has there, she had better hope it won't require her to come back, given what Yaga-Shura is going to do to it...

I'm afraid that Lanthanos has a certain mental block when it comes to networking.

Who is Beledeeb? What is her rank? She must be formidable if Resar seems uncomfortable around her.

This is a country where your status is (largely) determined by your magical ability. There is only one diviner more powerful than Beledeeb in the whole nation, and that is the (wizard king) Netyarch himself, Zalathorm.

Is she taking an interest in the Bhaalspawn matter, given that she is heading to Saradush? Whatever business she has there, she had better hope it won't require her to come back, given what Yaga-Shura is going to do to it...

She's going shopping. While the city is standing is a great time to go shopping, probably the best time in the next ten years. :D But there are also some things that even diviners would like to see with their own eyes.
