Shock therapy? I don't think so!

Okay, I'm writing this here for two reasons. 1. I need to vent. 2. My cousin won't see it here as she doesn't even know I write.

Here's what happened: I told my cousin that I haven't been responding to any of the medication that I've been given for depression or for panic attacks. My doctor tells me that she can't raise the dosage because it's already too high and that we've gone over all five types of meds there are that my insurance will cover. I live on the city's welfare medical plan, that doesn't give me much room to get anything. My pain meds aren't even covered. The doctor said the next thing we could try would be shock therapy.

Me? In the hospital getting my brain screwed up? I don't think so. For starters, I have a kitten, named Genocide, whom no one would take care of while I was away. Second, this part really scares me, I could lose my stories, all of them. I have seen some of my friends before and after this treatment and they are not the same people they once were. One of them was this great computer geek and now he barely can type! Then there's the case that I could get worse. There's one person in my therapy group, the one I asked about in the water cooler, who got worse. Really worse. Now all he talks about is dying and his parania is worse. I can't even talk to him anymore with out him saying, "Oh God." between sentences. It's really really sad.

I don't want any of this to happen to me. I told my cousin the risks and she's like, "Don't you want to work someday? Be a valuable member of the world?" Funny. I thought I could make a difference with just writing my stories. Sure most of them have romance in them but they all have an underlining message. The Corren: racism. Anna's Story: mental problems. Lori's Dead: Making the right choices and that there's nothing good about revenge and that God loves everyone. (Last one is corny I know)

I admit I've been working on the Corren for the past 12 years and have only written a few chapters on it, but it's the story I carry with me. I feel I was born to write it. That's why I have so many notes on it. It's culture, the tongue, the mythology, everything you can think of. Personally all I want to do is finish it and be happy with it. And really I don't care if I get paid for it or not. I just want the world to know about my characters.

That being said, if you ever see a book by Laurel D. Bolton, pick it up for a fellow atticer. That's my pen name.

And with that I say a big fuck you to the people who think I need shock treatment.

Well done, Iria. I'll be back in a week, so we can chat.

That shock therapy sounds like really "L. Ron Hubbard talking about psychiatry" kind of treatment.

On a lighter note, I suppose, The Corren... The way you speak of it, it must be interesting. I read only a small fraction the stories here, and have probably read no more than a couple of yours. Is it something one can read here? If not, what is it? You've made me curious.

I'll pretend I know who that is.

I have four chapters hidden around the attic somewhere. I'm stuck on the fifth chapter as it's a very important chapter. Think Gone with the Wind, were the main man is a complete jerk. That would be my Draconis.

The founder of Scientology. I was writing this long explanation about the subject here, but then I figured I was kind of getting off topic.

I'll take a look if I find them.
