Another chapter up with no naughty stuff this time I am afraid. That will have to wait for the next one

Beloved Child 27

Ten guardsmen waited for them as they exited the building togheter with Coreig Axehand. The commander greeted them and briefed them on what was going to happen this early morning.

“Right men! We are going to pay a little visit to Isaea Roenall. These fine people have provided me with enough evidence to make his life troublesome for years to come.”

There were smiles and sniggers from the assembled guards. Axehand was not alone in his dislike for Isaea it seemed. They went enmasse to Isaeas manor, Axehand led the way. The butler was rather surprised at the large group when he inquired about their business. Axehand rubbed his hands together and grinned.

“Tell Lord Roenall that Commander Axehand is here, we will meet him in the entrance hall and that he should bring with him Miss Nalia De`Arnise that he has locked up in his home.”

The butler paled and very quickly disappeared into manor. Axehand led the guards and the party members into the hall. Isaea appeared a moment later together with two his own guards.

“Commander… what… what is the meaning of this.” He asked and then spotted Jaheria, Viconia and Yoshimo. “What are they doing here?”

“These people have brought forth evidence that will lead into a investigation of corruption against you as well as witnessing what appears to be a less then legal abduction of a Nalia De`Arnise.” Axehand said.

“That is absurd!” Isaea spat.” What kind of evidence?”

“A rather large amount of it, pertaining mostly to smuggling.” Axehand replied and then turned to his men. “Find the girl.”

The guards split up and disappeared into the rest of the manor.

“This is… you can`t do this!” Isaea sputtered.

“Oh, I can and I will.” Axehand smiled. “I am officially suspending you pending an investigation.”

Isaeas face grew red with rage and his features became strained.

“You!” He shouted and pointed at the party. “This is your doing! Have you been here and stolen my property?” Then he seemed to realize something. “That girl… yesterday…”

“Commander… they must have stolen that so called evidence. It can`t be used!” The noble cried

Axhand just kept on smiling.

“Oh, everything they have done has had my approval and if you remember I am allowed to do a great deal in order to expose corruption.”

Two of Axehands men came down into the hall from the stairs with Nalia between them. The redheaded noblegirl looked alright if only a bit sleepy.

“You are lucky I don´t add kidnapping to the charges.” Axehand said to Isaea.

When Nalia saw the party she rushed past Isaea and his guards. She hugged Yoshimo tightly when she reached them.

“Did he hurt you?” The Kara-Turan asked worridly.

“No, I am fine, I am fine now.” She said burrowing her head in the man shoulder.

Viconia raised an eyebrow and leaned towards Jaheira.

“Did you see this coming?” She asked.

The druid shook her head.

“You… you can’t do this. I am a noble lord.” Isaea practically screamed.

“The law doesn`t care much.” Axehand said and waved at his men.

“This isn`t over!” The noble growled.

“Yes, it is Isaea.” Axehand`s voice grew hard. “You no longer wield any power as an officer of the guard and attempts to get revenge on these people will either reach my ear or you will find that those engaged in the adventuring profession usually can handle themselves.”

They left the young noble who began having a tantrum. Outside Axehand waved the adventurers off.

“Come by if you have any problems!” He cried and laughed as he and his men walked off.

As the group and Nalia began making their way back Viconia and Jaheira trailed a bit behind Yoshimo and Nalia whom were walking close together and talking in hushed voices.

“So, how do you think that is going to work out?” Viconia asked.

Jaheira shrugged.

“They are adults.” The druid looked pointedly at Viconia. “Groder is not.”

“That would depend on ones prespective.” The drow said. “I would say he is far older then most humans his age.”

“Maybe, maybe not.” Jaheira responded.

“Are you afraid I will harm him in some way?” Viconia asked and smiled.

“Have you never considered to possibility that he may harm you?” The druid asked. “He has a violent temper, he is belligerent and petty. How do you think he will respond in the end to your manipulation?”

Viconia looked honestly shocked.

“I have to say that your concern for my well being is suprising but I think I can handle one young male.” The drow told the druid. “And how do you know my intentions towards him are how shall we say less then noble?”

Jaheira simply stared at the dark elf with an incredulous look on her face.

**

Groder had gotten properly dressed and was pondering what to do with the dress when someone choughed lightly behind him. The boy spun and came face to face with Sime. The thief made a curt little bow.

“I have to say that was a pretty gutsy stunt you pulled.” The ravenhaired thief said. “I wondered were you went, it took me a minute or so to get that it was you in the dress.”

“Yes… we shall never speak of it again.” Groder said in low voice.

“I was surprised this morning too…” Sime added.

Groder`s face went red.

“That was… just an accident. Nothing at all really…” Groder waved his hands franticly infront of the thief.

“I have seen accidents; that was not one. The point is moot though, your lovelife is not our concern.” Sime shrugged.

“Could we not talk about it anymore?” Grider asked and was even redder. “Did you want something?”

“Merely checking up on you. Tangling with nobles may land you in trouble we can not afford.”

“I trust I may actually get some help then if something were to happen?” Groder sneered as the embarrassment he felt melted away.

“Indeed but do not presume that I am at your beck and call.” Sime responded and slipped out the window to resume her watch.

Alone again Groder left the room and without anything to distract his mind it floated back to what had passed less then an hour ago. The brief second his face had touched the tieflings bare chest burned anew in his mind. He looked about the common room needning something to occupy his mind.

“Why the hell am I thinking about it anyways…” He muttered.

The boy was saved from his own thoughts by a knock at the door. He postioned himself against the wall next to it and called:

“Who is it?”

“It is Thalia, Samuel`s daughter!” The Halfling called through the door. “We got a letter for you!”

Groder opened the door and was met with the Innkeepers daughter. At least he could take some solace in that he was taller then eighteen year old Halflings. She handed him a rolled up paper which bore the seal of The Cowled Wizards. He was instantly intrigued and practically closed the door in the young Halflings face. At least it was something to take his mind of Haer`Dalises arms wrapping around his waist…

“Damn it!” Groder yelled and opened the letter.

It was short and to the point. An official named Tolegrias wanted to see them about some work he may have for them and in return the same Tolegrias would be willing to reward them handsomely. Groder realized that if he played his cards right he may be able to get a hold of some information on Spellhold and Irenicus.Tymora was smiling at him and the group it seemed.

**

Groder greeted Jaheria and Viconia casually when they returned together with Yoshimo and Nalia. With the exception of Nalia they all looked tired. Viconia mumbled a greeting and quickly went into her room. Jaheria sat down in a chair and yawned.

“So we got Nalia back? Good.” Groder asked and waved at the girl, then continued. “We got a letter from The Cowled Wizards; they have a proposition for us. I thought it may be a good idea to take a look at it.” He motioned towards the letter that he had laid on the table.

“Good but first I think we need rest.” Jaheira said. “I suggest we try to be up and about by midday.” She told Yoshimo who nodded in response. Both he and Nalia went into his room. Groder raised a curious eyebrow. When Jaheira left for her room Groder went up to the door to Viconias room and opened it only slightly and slipped in. The room lay in total darkness; the boy could not see anything. He assumed it was magical.

“Viconia, are you sleeping?” He asked.

“Almost…” The drows voice sounded through the darkness.

“I`ll leave.” Groder began but Viconia cut him off.

“No, don’t bother… come over here and crack your whip on my back. I have not slept for two days but followers don’t need any sleep do they?”

Two red burning orbs floated in the air in what Groder guessed to be that bed. He could not dicern anything in the darkness.

“Right so I will leave.” He told the Drow.

“Come.” She said and Groder began moving towards the glowing orbs. “What do you want?” He sat down on the bed and began hesitantly talking about what had passed that morning. As he was finishing up the story he lay back on the bed staring up into the darkness.

“I just… don’t know… I feel confused.” He finished and turned sideways to look into the dark elf’s glowing eyes. He felt a hand on his chest.

“He confuses you like the creature of chaos that he is. You should not doubt yourself.” Her lips pressed against his. She released him and gazed deeply into his eyes. He felt the loose fabric of her tunic and pants through his own clothes. “You are too strong to let such a small issue cloud your mind… anyway I need rest, remain if you wish.”

Groder felt her body leave his and the red orbs that was the dark elf’s eyes disappeared. Soon he heard the Drow`s breathing even out and surmised she had fallen asleep. The boy dozed of as well. He drifted between sleep and wakefulness. The boy rolled onto his side and tentatively stretched out his hand. He felt a slight varm breath on his finger; he ran it gently over the woman’s nose and chin. As he ran the finger up along her face he reached the silken hair and her ear which twitched slightly at his touch. He drew back the hand in surprise when Viconia breathed two words.

“Dalninuk…Valas…”

Today is the day I'm trying for some serious criticism. I hope that you understand that I'm a bit new at this, so I may come as overly harsh, even though I'm trying not to? If I do - or if you simply aren't interested in anything except the basic "great stuff, more, please" - just tell me. Unless you don't care enough even to tell.

So, on the plus side, I like your imagination. Your versions of the characters do not necessarily agree with my vision of them (see my gut-reaction reply to the previous chapter), but the characters do have characters. They talk between themselves about what they are doing - or not talk, which is fine as well, because not everyone in the party has to instantly know everything because the PC knows it. That's great!

This has occurred to me right now, because this chapter is full of these interactions: Jaheira-Viconia, Groder-Viconia and Groder-Sime... And, of course, this:

She told Yoshimo who nodded in response. Both he and Nalia went into his room. Groder raised a curious eyebrow.

:)

Also, I like the surprise twists. They are great, too.

But, on the other hand, I really wish you'd paid a bit more attention to grammar and spelling. It is a bit distracting to read a story which is not written using correct spelling! :)

That's all... I hope I didn't come out too obnoxious... :)

Another chapter up with no naughty stuff this time I am afraid. That will have to wait for the next one :D

I’m not terribly interested in seeing either Groder or Haer in full nudity, by the way.

Hmm, the enjoyment he is taking from this does not seem very professional to me.

“You!” He shouted and pointed at the party. “This is your doing! Have you been here and stolen my property?” Then he seemed to realize something. “That girl… yesterday…”

“Commander… they must have stolen that so called evidence. It can`t be used!” The noble cried

I don’t think that the way it was obtained in any way matters here…

“You are lucky I don´t add kidnapping to the charges.” Axehand said to Isaea.

Hmm, why don’t you, though?

Viconia raised an eyebrow and leaned towards Jaheira.

“Did you see this coming?” She asked.

The druid shook her head.

What, Nalia and Yoshi? But… it was so obvious!

“Have you never considered to possibility that he may harm you?” The druid asked. “He has a violent temper, he is belligerent and petty. How do you think he will respond in the end to your manipulation?”

Meh, I bet he’ll go along with everything Vic says or does, if only he gets to lay his hands on that hot drow booty.

“I have to say that your concern for my well being is suprising but I think I can handle one young male.” The drow told the druid. “And how do you know my intentions towards him are how shall we say less then noble?”

Jaheira simply stared at the dark elf with an incredulous look on her face.

Yeah, because she knows you well, Vic.

“Yes… we shall never speak of it again.” Groder said in low voice.

“I was surprised this morning too…” Sime added.

Mwahahah! ;) She knows what pervert you are, Groder! :P

Ewww! I think I need my eyes washed with soap now!

“Good but first I think we need rest.” Jaheira said. “I suggest we try to be up and about by midday.” She told Yoshimo who nodded in response. Both he and Nalia went into his room. Groder raised a curious eyebrow.

Nalia will be sorry about getting involved…

“He confuses you like the creature of chaos that he is. You should not doubt yourself.” Her lips pressed against his. She released him and gazed deeply into his eyes. He felt the loose fabric of her tunic and pants through his own clothes. “You are too strong to let such a small issue cloud your mind… anyway I need rest, remain if you wish.”

Don’t know what that means, but Groder, I think she means to poison you.

Today is the day I'm trying for some serious criticism. I hope that you understand that I'm a bit new at this, so I may come as overly harsh, even though I'm trying not to? All criticism is welcome, it is better for all.

So, on the plus side, I like your imagination. Again thank you.

I kind of keep forgetting to spellcheck. The document has so many words now that the program has stopped with the red lines and I forget.

Will be looking more closely at the grammar in the future.

That's all... I hope I didn't come out too obnoxious...

Nope, it is ok!

Hehe... I actually did not mean naughty... it was early when I posted this. Horrible is the right word.

My online Drow dictionary tells me that "Dalninuk" means "brother" and Valas was her brothers name.

No wonder. From the other hand, he is not insane enough to choose Isaea followers.

“You!” He shouted and pointed at the party. “This is your doing! Have you been here and stolen my property?” Then he seemed to realize something. “That girl… yesterday…”

Yes, that was nice, hot 'girl'.

Viconia raised an eyebrow and leaned towards Jaheira.

The druid shook her head.

Tsk, tsk...such lack of intuition :) .

“That would depend on ones prespective.” The drow said. “I would say he is far older then most humans his age.”

“Have you never considered to possibility that he may harm you?” The druid asked. “He has a violent temper, he is belligerent and petty. How do you think he will respond in the end to your manipulation?”

Good question. Overall Viconia in-game romance requires patient and very forgiving character, methinks. Sarevok-type Bhaalspawn most likely would kill her for continuos insults...although theoretically in that case she would be more careful.

Jaheira simply stared at the dark elf with an incredulous look on her face.

She really should talk to Haer'Dalis first.

“I have seen accidents; that was not one. The point is moot though, your lovelife is not our concern.” Sime shrugged.

But I bet that almost everyone in Thief Guild will know about his lovelife nevertheless :) .

He is not that insane. :)

“You!” He shouted and pointed at the party. “This is your doing! Have you been here and stolen my property?” Then he seemed to realize something. “That girl… yesterday…”

Yes, that was nice, hot 'girl'.

Oh yes! :)

Viconia raised an eyebrow and leaned towards Jaheira.

“Did you see this coming?” She asked.

Tsk, tsk...such lack of intuition :) .

Well... It was not that obvious...

“That would depend on ones prespective.” The drow said. “I would say he is far older then most humans his age.”

Yeah, she switches fast back and forth between angry!Vic and gimmesympathy!Vic. Patience and understanding is kind of the key there.

Groder has neither in high supply but then again he is alot easier for her to handle.

Jaheira simply stared at the dark elf with an incredulous look on her face.

She really should talk to Haer'Dalis first.

She doesn`t know and it will take some time before she will...

“I have seen accidents; that was not one. The point is moot though, your lovelife is not our concern.” Sime shrugged.

Heh... everyone knows criminals love gossip!

Groder opened the door and was met with the Innkeepers daughter. At least he could take some solace in that he was taller then eighteen year old Halflings.

Does his height bothers him much?

He is rather short but the issue is a minor one.

Ah, futile hopes. It seems, by the way, that Imoen's fate doesn't concern him much?

No, they drifted apart and he is rather unconcered with her. Imoen does not share his frosty disposition though.
