As Imoen summoned a Planetar, and Anomen called forth a pair of Air Elementals, Edwin twisted and muttered and mumbled until time itself stopped.

He walked down into the greying void of the timeless chamber, past the theif and the vampire, and hurled two defense lowering spells, shield breakers that would neutralize enemy protections, at the lich. Then he called upon a lightning bolt.

The lightning bolt left his fingers just as time snapped back to normal. He turned and bolted back the way he had come.

He felt the cold gaze of the Beholder settle on his back, but his archmagi robe blocked whatever the creature was trying to to him. The enemy mage began to cast, but he was already out of her range. The lich suffered as the lightning bolt zapped through his nonexistent protections, bounced off the wall, and came through him again. Edwin's only real worry was that his own spell would catch up to him.

but he turned left quickly and came up behind the vampire as Korgan was fighting it. Xzar was rasing giant skeletons as Adrian, Anomen, and the air elementals focused on the theif.

Lacking time to prepar anything else, Edwin sighed and thumped his quarterstaff against the back of the vampire's skull. It turned and hissed at him, which enabled Korgan to chop it's head off.

Adrian and the others were able to take down the theif relatively easily.

Fun and games were over, however. The Beholder was looming behind them now. The Lich was beside him, very angry, and from the far room Edwin could hear screams and roars of hate as the mortal mage summoned a Pit Fiend.

One tentacle-eye focused on Edwin, and a bolt of power knocked him agianst the wall, and he collapsed.

----

Adrian saw Edwin go down, and went right for the Beholder, slamming his blade into it's central eye.

It roared in pain and it's other eyes tried to focus on him, so he threw himself flat. It floated down and tried to bite into his armored back.

The lich was casting, only to be interrupted by Imoen's lightning bow....
The road to the abyss may be paved with good intentions, but it is those with bad intentions that race down that road as fast as they can.

You have an excellent writing style, and it has been fascinating to follow the storylines.
I do have one, small complaint-could you merge a few chapters together perhaps? I for one, would not mind waiting a little longer if I could read what I feel to be the full chapter. Please?
