Corren 3

Sindel Zenn never really wanted much out of life, only to have her Chosen and no children. She did not want to bring children into this world, into slavery, but Saebyne had chosen her Purpose, not her. She was mother to three, no soon to be four children. Her mate, Damien had the children while she ran. He was off to get new identities for the children and himself, but she was the one that was hunted. As a woman it was her duty to protect and provide for her family, unlike the Valacorian belief that it was up to the male to do so. She knew it was true, the Corren belief, woman was the mightier of the sexes. She held her hand to her belly as she walked through the night, it was a noisy night, the people of Slever were celebrating the anniversary of their freedom, the Slever had been slaves like the Corren but they had won their freedom. When would the Corren finally stand up for themselves and find freedom? This was neither here or now, the time would come if her and Damien's beliefs were true of their daughter.

It was putting so much on their little girl, barely five, but it was the only hope they had. She would never know her fate, to know it, the very pressure of it was too much to put on anyone. No she would be raised as a normal child, free of the blood curse and her destiny if she wish. Sindel had already made plans for her family, giving them a new identity, while she fled to Delgafia with the help of the current Simon. He was a gnarled old man, almost at the end of his life, but he was a Virrcan and they were known for smuggling out her people. With him was his lieutenant, she assume the next Simon, his white wings were folded behind him taking up as little room as possible. The three of them walked to the city's limits, to where the greenery ended and desert began.

"Adrian will take you from here. I cannot make the journey." Simon said as he faced her. She understood, if he was caught taking her it could risk a war with the Virrcans who were suppose to be neutral in all things on Nevewald. She held out her hand and he took it, kissing the palm of her hand. "May Saebyne's grace be with you." He said as he walked away.

"Do you wish to walk or fly?"

"If Saebyne wanted us to fly he would have given us all wings as the Second had." She smiled, knowing that the Virrcan with wings detested walking, but she was afraid of flying. She wondered briefly if her children would learn to know of the First, Second and Mercy. Mercy was the only one with a name that was remembered, after all it was her efforts that destroyed the physical body of Valacor. Both Gods had lost their mortal bodies and were in the spiritual realm and were as strong as their followers but Saebyne only had the Corren while his brother had four races following him. The priestess of Saebyne were strong enough to bring him into semi-physical form to speak to his people directly while his brother had to talk through his high priest. The current one was blessed with youth and life and a passion to see the Corren destroyed. Her family was going to the King's Haven, the center of Nevewald, they would be "found" and returned by Virrcans. It was where the royalty of the world stayed, it was the most protected green, surrounded by walls crafted of magic and tycca, the hardest rock known. She prayed that they would be protected by Saebyne's grace.

Damien stopped where he was told. He carried his youngest, his son, on in his arms. His two daughters followed every command they were given, not giving anyone an excuse to harm them. They were lined up with several others who had been brought to King's Haven. He was the only full grown adult in the line, the rest had to be under two hundred. It made him feel old at nearly three hundred, he snorted to himself, him old at three hundred? He was still the baby of his family. His father had been nearly fifteen hundred when he was killed by his master. Damien hoped to never be killed by a master, he could only hope to have his children out live him. His oldest would have problems, she had too much of a mind of her own, not that they discouraged such a thing, it was just dangerous if she didn't keep her mouth shut. His other daughter only had spirit when she was with her sister, a common thing among distanced twins.

Twins, it was what started this whole mess on Nevewald. Saebyne and Valacor were ones. Saebyne had been born first and leaving the womb he took his twin's energy and killed him. Years later He felt remorse for what happened and split his soul in half and gave his brother life. It was thought that maybe he receive the negative emotions from Him, but only the two of them knew the truth. To keep any other from experiencing this He had made it so that twins could still be born but at different times. Iria and Kala were two years distanced but they were the same age. The other races didn't have this ability, one twin was almost always born dead. Another reason for the Corren to be hated.

"Dante Sennim, come forth." At first he didn't move, he had forgotten that was his new name. He receive a whip to the back for his lack of moving. He showed no emotion, he was use to the whip by now. Taking his daughter's hand he presented himself in front of the kings and the Dagon Prince. He went to his knees, his daughters following his example and bow their heads.

"You stayed with the caravan but where is your woman?" He was asked.

"I was told to stay and fend for the children, I do as I am told whether it be mate or master." He answered.

"Where is your woman, the mother of these mongrels?" The voice of Mayu pierced his ears.

"She left. I was not man enough for her. Whether she is alive or not is unknown to me." He lied, thinking to himself that he was more man than Mayu would ever be. He kept his temper in check, lord knew that the Zenns were a fiery bunch, the second main reason why they were all almost dead. He was not a Zenn anymore, he could never go back to being one, he was a Sennim now, a clan known for their submissiveness. Mayu was the type of man that felt good about himself when he pushed around a slave, especially a woman. Damien...Dante could only hope that one day a woman would be his down fall, until then they were all stuck with him. "I keep her name in case she comes back."

"I did not ask about your name, slave." He receive another crack with the whip, he did the mandatory flinch, the whip no longer bothered him, his skin had toughened. Saebyne forbid that the masters find out, they would find new punishments for his people.

"To lose a mate among the Corren is a grave thing, Mayu. It is only heard of if the female is unsatisfied. Is that what happened?" The Slever king asked of him.

"She felt I was not her Purpose nor where the children."

"The Corren and their Purposes. What rubbish, Saebyne is dead. The demon has been dead since the beginning. Yet they slave," He snickered at the pun, "away to their demon god hoping he will save them all." Mayu laughed. Every Corren just looked down, they would not hate Mayu for his opinion. They would give their hate to Mercy and live with their hearts light or that was what was they told themselves. Did they all secretly hate their masters as much as he tried not to, Dante couldn't help the hate festering inside, because of Mayu and his True, he would never see Sindel again. He couldn't let the hate spread to his children, they had to be pure and free of it. "They do not even argue that their god is a demon nor that he does evil deeds onto us, the True children."

"Saebyne is not a demon." A single voice cried out, much to his horror it came from his daughter Iria. He yanked on her hand trying to get her to knee down again but she shook him off. She stood proud, her little hands clenched into fists, her hair and dress moving with the power radiated by her aura. The whip came down on her back hard enough it tore into her skin, silver blood staining the drab dress. The only sign that she had felt it was a tightening of her eyes, her sister Kala was trembling, her link with her sister allowing her to know the pain she was in.

"Irinan, quiet." Dante...hell he would never get use to that name, whispered to his daughter, trying to pull her back down to her knees.

"No, no, this is interesting. A Corren standing up for herself and so young, what's next Corren entering the Arena for their freedom."

"And If I did, I could kick your butt." She said boldly.

"Insolence!" Mayu yelled as he grabbed a hold of her by the neck and slapped her once on each cheek. She fell to the ground and stared up at him, her honey and silver eyes meeting his tri-colored ones. He stepped back before he realized what he was doing, the child had something in her eyes that he had never seen a slave have before.

She hated him.

"Kill her." He stated and turned away from her, feeling her gaze on his back.

"No, don't." This came from the Dagonian prince, Draconis. "Her emotions, I've never felt anything like it." He slipped out of his throne from next to his father, dressed in silks imported from other realms, he move easily around the room to face the child. "And how old are you?"

"Fifty-two." She answered.

"In Valacorian terms."

"Five." She reluctantly answered. The Corren counted every year, not diminishing it to less years like the others did.

"How old am I do you know?" She stared up at him.

"You're one hundred and thirty. Thirteen in Valacorian terms. You are also a Virrcan. I know you feel what I feel."

"Very smart for one so young. Then I suppose you know that someone will die for your disrespect."

"I am willing to die for the truth. Saebyne is not a demon. Mayu's downfall will be his arrogance."

"Oh she is smart, Mayu. You should know that just because they are slaves it doesn't give us the right to antagonize them. One day they will face us in the Arena, they will turn on us one day."

"That is why children like her must die."

"I like her, I say she lives." Draconis walked back to this throne, leaning back. The room was quiet as Mayu turned to him, the disgust in his eyes plain for him to see, while the prince just smiled back. An idea came into his head, a way to break the girl and to rid himself of a Corren while he was at it. The priest walked over and took Dante's son from him, who only started crying as he was awakened. He placed the baby in front of the girl and handed her a dagger.

"Kill him. That is your punishment and if you think of coming after me, I will have all slaves here put to death."

"Mayu this is a little extreme. Are you truly thinking that she will be able to do this and not go insane?" The Slever king spoke up.

"It is better to be in death with Saebyne than in life in slavery." Irinan said as she handled the dagger. She bent down to her brother and whispered to him, "Forgive me Robyn. I love you." Dante closed his eyes as tears ran down his face, if only she had stayed quiet. He couldn't watch as the blade descended and pierced the main heart of his only son. She made it quick, going in straight, barely nicking his ribs, she twisted the blade, ruining his heart, making it impossible for him to heal it. Robyn gave a little cry, before his breath stopped. Tears were running down the young girl's face as she turned her eyes back to Mayu as her brother's body dissipated leaving nothing behind but silver dust. Her eyes were as dead as her brother as she look at him. She dropped to her knees and bowed her head like every other Corren in the room.

"That is how you handle a Corren, take away what they care for and they will submit."

"Do not forget it was that which caused the Slever to revolt." The Galken King warned as he watched the young girl.

"You have endangered us all, Mayu. The prophecy of Mercy is bound to come true, now you and the prince have given someone to full fill it."

"The child was not born on the red moon. There is no way that she can be part of the prophecy. When she takes a mate, we will simply kill him in order to keep her from birthing it." He said smugly. "Take them away." Draconis was tempted to follow the family, the misery coming from the girl was something so delicious, some emotion he could feed of off. He was partly responsible for her punishment, if only he could feed off the emotion, she wouldn't feel the way she did. He could only wonder how this would affect her life, but that was not his problem, his problem was smiling as the slaves where being led out of the room. Mayu would be the destruction of them all.

He had to be stopped.

What a question... walk. ;) But that's just personal.
