I'm glad you enjoyed it. Though you could have commented at any time, I'm not picky.

Heh. Well, you may not be picky, but I am shy, epecially when it comes to someone who's spent a whole lot of time and is held in very high regard here. But I'll remember that for if you post anything else here.

I understand being shy. It took me a lot of years to get past my own shyness. But after a while I realized that I had to, because being a shy redhead was murder. The teachers *always* call on you.

But pretty much everyone here is always glad to get a comment, especially a complimentary one. So don't let that hold you back from commenting on anyone else's stories. ;)

And so it ends. Happy to see Jarran and Jaheira get such a nice ending, and congratulations to you for finishing the tale.

Well, I'm happy to see that Jarran gets such a nice ending, and sad because, well, it's an ending. I've been reading this story for so long, and can't believe I don't have another chapter to look forward to.

Congratulations on finishing such a wonderful tale, Silrana, and I hope to see your future stories in print!

Ave caesar, I salute you.

I just wanted to say some quick words to congratulate you. I'm still in the process of slowly catching up on the times, so I'm not here yet, but I will soonish, I hope. Then, I'll leave some more indepth comments.

I just wanted to say something to congratulate you. It's a bittersweet feeling, though, I know, when you've invested so much time and emotion in a story and having it be over. When I finished first part of Tnt (soa), I had that creepy feeling in the back of my skull which told me I well on my way towards the end of the story. Pride in your accomplishment, sad in the knowledge that the work is done.

I'd offer you some champagne, but thanks to a certain elf, I'm out of anything alcoholic... she even drank the copper polish.

So, what's next for you, my friend? Don't tell me you're stopping the fanfic scene. Anything you like to reveal? A hint, maybe? (Will there be Viconia? Viccy! Viccyviccyviccyviccyviccyviccy! :))

Thank you. It's been a very long road, but I'm glad to have the ending finally done. :P

I know what you mean. I can't count how many times I've sat down at my computer and said to myself, "Okay, time to work on AC... oh wait..." :)

That sounds like me. I keep swearing that I need to catch up on all the stories I've been letting slide. Darn that real life, getting in the way of my reading! :P

I just wanted to say something to congratulate you. It's a bittersweet feeling, though, I know, when you've invested so much time and emotion in a story and having it be over. I'm rather manic about it. One minute I'm deliriously happy to have something I can point to and say, "See that? Mine! I did it!", and the next I'm wondering what I'm going to do without it. That feeling is usually followed by abject terror when I realize I have lost my biggest procrastination excuse to not work on my manuscript.

I'd offer you some champagne, but thanks to a certain elf, I'm out of anything alcoholic... she even drank the copper polish.

Copper polish? Now that's hard up!

So, what's next for you, my friend? Don't tell me you're stopping the fanfic scene. Anything you like to reveal? A hint, maybe? (Will there be Viconia? Viccy! Viccyviccyviccyviccyviccyviccy! :P)

*chuckles*

Well, I don't have it completely out of my blood yet, but a lot depends on if I have any success with pro writing. No offense to the wonderful people here, but I'd rather put my energy into writing that will put some cash into my wallet. :P

But I'm glad you've enjoyed A Cappella. Thank you.

AC325- Epilogue’s Epilogue

Whups, finally caught up. ;)

A number of years after the Bhaalspawn War….

Laska : *puts on hat which reads 'continuity gal'* Exactly how many months, days and hours is that?

Weyoun : You're not fooling anyone, Las.

The man made a face. “There’s the Croaking Toad, m’lord, but you wouldn’t want to stay there. Most people prefer to camp by the side of the road.”

Croaking Toad? Bit obvious. Heh, I've heard there's actually a pub in Miami called the Fat Slob, btw.

Jaheira sighed. “Jarran, I am most tired. Even if I must fight a rat for my supper, I do not wish to continue. Let us try this inn.”

If the inn is like the bloke described it, the supper might be that rat's wife! No wonder he'd fight Jaheira over her supper.

A slatternly woman came out of a back room and scowled when she saw the yarting slung across Jarran’s shoulder. “No singing for your supper,” she snapped. “You either put gold in my hand or turn around and head back out.”

Welcoming, isn't she?

“Jarran, do not be foolish. We lead far too busy lives to dream of a cottage with a garden.”

Be glad you're not an elf. By the time Laska's calming down due to the effects of aging/maturing, my bones will have turned to dust already. ;) Guess I'm stuck with her for a bit longer.

He counted out the number of coins that she demanded, then added more. “I want your finest bottle of wine and your…” he began to say ‘best’ but changed his mind, “cleanest room.”

The room with the least cockroaches. :D

“I simply want us to be comfortable. You need a good night’s sleep.”

Not planning on giving the cockroaches one heck of a sexy show? ;)

“At first I could not believe it. Me, a mother? Then… I wanted to wait for the right time to tell you. I never imagined that this would come out at a ghastly inn like this. I wanted the moment that you discovered that you were going to be a father to be a special one.”

I'm sure the cockroaches are pinking away a happy tear right about now. :D

“And adventurers do not make good parents, love, unless you want to risk the problems Keldorn had. I don’t mind the idea of settling down at all. And… I was thinking… If the baby is a boy, we should name him Khalid.”

Laska : You know, Laska is a pretty good name for a girl.

Vierna : I like Vierna a better. :D

Jarran returned to the room just as Jaheira was stirring. With a wide grin, he said, “Wake up, love. I’ve got a wonderful idea.”

“Hmmm? What is it?”

“Let’s buy this inn and live here.”

The cockroaches are suddenly worried about being evicted. :P

“I’ve looked it over. The roof needs some work, but otherwise the building is in good shape. It needs a really thorough cleaning, and of course all the linens and such will need to be replaced. But a large plot of land comes with the inn, perfect for a garden and a corral so that the horses don’t need to be cooped up in a stable. I sweet-talked our hostess into showing me the private quarters, and they are more spacious than I had thought. With some work this place could become a popular stop on this road. There’s even a stage in the common room for bards to perform on, and plenty of woods around the village for you to roam.”

Promise me you'll rename the inn, though. Croaking Toad? Hmm... how about : Tub o'lard, The Exploding Mallard, The Giant Monkey-head, Coin & Cleavage, The Drunken Drow?

“I refuse to be the proprietress of a place named ‘The Croaking Toad’.”

Hahah! :P

A few weeks later, the inn had its grand re-opening. The roof had been repaired, the entire inn had been cleaned and repainted inside and out, and all the furniture had been repaired or replaced. New mattresses graced the beds, the linens were fresh and clean, and the bathing rooms were luxuriously decorated. Recently planted flowers bloomed around the building.

You can't throw out the cockroaches! They have a lease! :)

“My new friends, I thank you all for coming. Though if I had known so many would be here, I might have bought cheaper ale.” Laughter rang out. “Today I officially become the innkeeper here, and I hope that Jaheira and I will spend many, many happy years as your neighbors.” As he pulled a rope that ran to the cloth covering the sign, he cried happily, “I welcome you to The Bard’s Lady.”

Hm, nice.

Jarran and Jaheira’s first child was a girl, but that was certainly no disappointment. They were thoroughly delighted with their little Dynera. A son, who they did name Khalid, arrived a few years later.

The Bard’s Lady became a very prosperous inn. It proved extremely popular with adventurers of good heart. Jarran would not allow common mercenaries to ply their trade there, but those with noble goals and honorable reputations were always welcome, making the Lady an excellent place for those in need to find help.

So you'd take Anomen but not Korgan? ;)

As the years passed, the village slowly forgot that their illustrious neighbors had once had far-reaching reputations, and Jarran and Jaheira were content to be simple innkeepers. No traveler would have guessed that the cheerful bear of a man serving ale with a booming laugh and occasionally entertaining his patrons with a rousing ballad had once stood on the threshold of godhood, and had turned and walked away.

Nice ending indeed!

The scribe rubbed her eyes and yawned. She carefully cleaned her quill and corked the ink bottle. Then she rose from her chair, stretching to relieve the tight muscles in her back and shoulders. The work had been long, but she could finally rest.

With a small smile, she spread the sheets of paper around the desk to let the ink dry. She looked at the last page and frowned. It seemed to be lacking something. Then with a nod of certainty, she added the words “The End” to the bottom of the page. Finally satisfied, the scribe blew out the candle and went to bed.

Weyoun : These elves are never gonna let me go, you know? I'll never be rid of them.

Laska : You'd better believe it.

Vierna : Oh, by the way, I found a solution for all those homeless cockroaches.

Weyoun : *worried* What?

Vierna : I've invited them to come live with us! In here, fellahs. :P

Seriously, though, again, congratulations on finishing your story. Though you're on your way to becoming a published writer, I hope you won't forget your friends here and stick around the Attic a bit longer. :D

Edit : Bye, bye 'not'! ;)

Now I'm trying to catch up!

A number of years after the Bhaalspawn War….

Laska : *puts on hat which reads 'continuity gal'* Exactly how many months, days and hours is that?

Weyoun : You're not fooling anyone, Las.

*laughs* I have to keep things slightly vague, since WotC hasn't let me in on the plans for this region.

I've seen lots of rather odd bar names.

Jaheira sighed. “Jarran, I am most tired. Even if I must fight a rat for my supper, I do not wish to continue. Let us try this inn.”

If the inn is like the bloke described it, the supper might be that rat's wife! No wonder he'd fight Jaheira over her supper. ;)

A real charmer.

“Jarran, do not be foolish. We lead far too busy lives to dream of a cottage with a garden.”

Be glad you're not an elf. By the time Laska's calming down due to the effects of aging/maturing, my bones will have turned to dust already. :) Guess I'm stuck with her for a bit longer.

*g* Forget old age, with Laska around you might not last that long.

He counted out the number of coins that she demanded, then added more. “I want your finest bottle of wine and your…” he began to say ‘best’ but changed his mind, “cleanest room.”

The room with the least cockroaches. :)

And bedbugs.

“I simply want us to be comfortable. You need a good night’s sleep.”

Not planning on giving the cockroaches one heck of a sexy show? ;)

I don't think Jaheira is up to it at the moment.

Right before Jarran brings a boot down on them.

What, no Aribeth?

Jarran returned to the room just as Jaheira was stirring. With a wide grin, he said, “Wake up, love. I’ve got a wonderful idea.”

“Hmmm? What is it?”

“Let’s buy this inn and live here.”

The cockroaches are suddenly worried about being evicted. :)

Eviction? They'd better worry about survival.

“I’ve looked it over. The roof needs some work, but otherwise the building is in good shape. It needs a really thorough cleaning, and of course all the linens and such will need to be replaced. *snicker*

“I refuse to be the proprietress of a place named ‘The Croaking Toad’.”

Hahah! :D

Though I'm afraid they won't be using any of your suggestions.

Sorry, new management. All leases rendered null and void.

That's right. I mean, all joking aside, the game Korgan is a slimeball.

I thought they deserved a happy ending after all they had gone through.

The scribe rubbed her eyes and yawned. She carefully cleaned her quill and corked the ink bottle. Then she rose from her chair, stretching to relieve the tight muscles in her back and shoulders. The work had been long, but she could finally rest.

*pets* Poor Weyoun.

Vierna : Oh, by the way, I found a solution for all those homeless cockroaches.

Weyoun : *worried* What?

Vierna : I've invited them to come live with us! In here, fellahs. :)

Gah!

Seriously, though, again, congratulations on finishing your story. Though you're not on your way to becoming a published writer, I hope you won't forget your friends here and stick around the Attic a bit longer. :)

I wanted to add one last note to this. I want to thank everyone who has ever read A Cappella. I don't care if you commented. Heck, I don't even care if you liked it. I still want to thank you for taking the time to read any part of it.

I made my first post on the Attic in November of 2000. A couple of weeks later, I reposted a story that I had first put up on the old Interplay boards. About a week and a half after that, I posted a second story. And I just couldn't stop.

Today I'm working on a fantasy book, one that I dream of having published. I may never make it. Most aspiring writers don't. But I owe the fact that I even have the nerve to try to all of you. If it hadn't been for the feedback from the people here at the Attic, it never would have occurred to me that I had even the tiniest wisp of a chance of becoming a professional writer. Many people have thanked me for writing A Cappella, but I am the one who is grateful for all the support and encouragement that you have given me.

So from Jeannette, my very first cheerleader, to Oyster Girl and Darkrose, my ever-helpful betas, to Mutant Mike, Luned, Weyoun, Laufey, Lord E, Arelius, Daedalus and too many wonderful others to name, all the way to Keldan, who commented on A Cappella for the first time in this chapter, I thank you all.

Gah, sorry about that. It was a typo... suits me for writing comments at 2.30 AM. Scratch the 'not'. In fact, 'not' never existed. ;)

Thank you for coming back and commenting more. I appreciate it.

No problem. And you're quite right... I'll never be rid of those elves. :(

I have to admit that I’m exceedingly impressed with your work, Silrana. I am gone for what? Two years? I come back, and find that I’m just in time for witnessing the grand finale. I have the utmost respect for such determination and creativity, and it puzzles me beyond comprehension that a single person can come up with all those fantastic ideas, and that you could keep it up for such a long time.

Also, your writing is spectacular. I’ve just re-read the entire saga, experiencing all the emotional ups and downs, the stunningly unexpected plot-twist and she sheer ,magnitude of the entire thing. It is a tremendous work of fiction you have created, an enthralling tale that is worthy of remembrance (not to mention publishing). The point of all this is that I want to congratulate you on what you have accomplished; I was an avid fan fiction writer for a time but I have lost the zest for it, and I was just cruising the web looking for good reading when I remembered the site where I had my writing-debut.

Bottom line: I’m extremely impressed, and you should really be proud of what you have created here.

Cheers.

Thank you. I really appreciate your kind words. A Cappella is something I worked very hard on, and it makes me happy to know that others appreciated the effort.

Cheers.

Don't be a stranger! It's good to see you back. Remember, you don't have to write to comment. I hope you stick around. :D
