Kudos to everyone who writes spectacular female POVs here.

The Shortest Myth.

Sitting on the floor, legs folded, heels under her butt, palms resting on the uncomfortably sharp knees, the stuff of legends meditates. It is not the sort of activity that sets off the red-hot doomsday running lights in one’s mind. Red-hot is not Jedi style at any rate. She is only in mortal danger if she *would* surrender to the red-hot passions of the Sith. Says Jedi Code. She can’t hate Sith; she can only cut down the lot of them or play the old game of turning. She used to play this game for the darkness. Now she plays for the light. Hence, she can’t hate the Light either. What is there for me, but balance?

“Should not we…?” Carth stops as the doors to her cabin slide open, affording the view of his wide shoulders. She does not let a single muscle move on her face. Well, maybe a tiny flutter of the eyelashes. Nothing really. It is funny how the explosive, emotional people fill in the snaps and snorts for you if you just sit quietly and…. What? What was she doing? Sitting on the floor, my legs folded, trying not to guess just how old Carth is and if the face I see in the Forge-free dreams is that of his wife. And trying to resolve who I am. The least of my tasks.

“I’m Revan,” she says.

“No, you are not!” He rejoins hotly, the very man who all but trained his blaster at her every time when he thought that she could not see on Taris, on Dantoine. She was not Revan then, just Dovane Leith, a talented recruit. Trust, how to understand it?

“You passed the test,” he adds.

“I passed many tests.” Including the one on Korriban. The Sith let me in. The Jedi let me in. Twice. The ways of balance. My way?

“Tell me then, who am I?” she asks, her voice still void of feelings in the aftermath of the meditation.

“Dovane Leith.” Not a micro-second of hesitation. “You passed the test.” Then, quieter: “I love you.” His eyes say that it is what all of her lifestory, her myth, her grandeur boils down to for him.

What am I to do in the face of such naiveté?
