Running, running, running through the Underdark.

For some reason, Adrian was reminded of running from Sarevok on the night Gorion had died, all that long strange time ago. Why, he could not have said; after all, he was not running from certain death, but leading one group of foes to weaken another, and cause the elimination of both.

Nevertheless there was something similar; the pounding of his feet, the rushing of blood in his ears. It was darker now than it had been then, also; even night time on the Sword Coast was nothing compared to the eternal darkness of the Underdark. The occasional bit of glowing fungus and the fading light from Ust'Natha behind them did nothing to shed any real illumination on them. They were following paths they had used before, with Viconia and her infravision in the lead. Awkwardly, the party held hands in a long chain as they ran, heading for Adalon's lair.

The Drow patrol was behind them, close but not too close; the Demon had aided them well.

They were able to reach Adalon's lair, light gem still in their possesion, and abruptly stopped just inside, crowding to either side of the entrance archway. If they had timed this just right.....

They had. The Drow went charging down the steps, screaming war cries, not realizing their mistake until it was too late.

There was no real emotion in Viconia's eyes, but her mouth was drawn down. "Treachery is our way," she said softly. "Always that is our greatest enemy. Not those we fight from without, but from within."

"One of the many reasons you left," Adrian said softly.

She nodded softly, not looking at him. "Yes, my szinsring. But even though these deaths are advantageous to me, still I mourn the foolishness of my race."

He squeezed her hand, and now she did look, giving a bitter smile. They hugged briefly, but only briefly; now was a time of killing, not love.

She blessed the party and Edwin summoned his Fallen Planetar. The Planetar bowed to the party. Edwin blinked in surprise.

The Planetar spoke no word, but Adrian understood. "Word of our pact with the Demon travels fast, I see," he said.

The Planetar still remained silent, but it nodded it's head and it's eyes glowed.

"My eggs!" Adalon screamed. "You filthy Dark Elves, my EGGS!"

Jan hasted the party. They could rely no further on their hapless battle fodder to weaken the wyrm.

As they charged down the steps, the last two of the Drow struck as one, weakening the Silver Dragon, but with a swipe of her tail she knocked one aside, and one of her claws punched through the other.

"Traitor!" She shrieked at Adrian.

"YOU FOOLISH PATHETIC LIZARD!" Adrian Bhaalscreamed back. "NONE DARE TO CHALLENGE ME, LEAST OF ALL A THIRD RATE WYRMLING SUCH AS YOURSELF! YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE THREATENED ME!"

As the echoes died away and Adalon recoiled in pain, Adrian added in a softer voice, "Besides, you were dead from the moment we laid eyes on you. Your blood shall serve for one of our....experiments." Adrian matched Irenicus' tone and pitch precisely, smiling unpleasantly all the while, then charged.

The Planetar had already advanced. Viconia began a summoning spell of her own, as Anomen and Korgan struck first agianst the silver hide.

The party's illusion faded and they returned to their normal selves. Zavrian leapt, landed on Korgan's shoulders, then leapt again, his katars sliging through the silver flesh.

It was true that Adalon was not as strong as either of the Dragons the party had previously faced. But she was also very, very angry.

As Viconia summoned a pair of fire elementals, the booming rush of the Dragon's wing buffet send a storm of wind blasting through the chamber....
The road to the abyss may be paved with good intentions, but it is those with bad intentions that race down that road as fast as they can.

At least, the Demon has *some* use here.

Good one. Should it be "others", btw?

Full marks. I never thought of that, myself, but now I see there indeed must be some reaction.

He-he. By the way, have you heard "Irenicus mix"? It has Irenicus voice, and I must say, it was very well done:

I imagine it must be a very tense experience for them - foes in front, foes behind, and then the darkness all around.

Ah, very nice! Makes perfect sense this would happen, I think.

Oh *yes*.

Might as well lean back and relax, Adalon - you're about to become outfit material!
Rogues do it from behind.

Actually it's supposed to be "the". And I fixed it. Thanks. :D
