"I know not how you snuck back into Drow society after siding with those surfacers," he spat, "But whatever you're planning, it bodes ill for Ust'Natha and the destiny of our race as a whole."

Viconia stared at him, and laughed. "Did you really think you could stop us by yourself, wael?"

"No need. All I have to do is open my mouth and give the alarm. I just wanted to see the look on your face bef--"

Soulafein moved almost too quick for the eye to follow, slipping through the party ranks and lashing out with a foot. Unarmored, unencumbered, he moved with a fluid grace.

Crack.

His foot connected with the other Drow under the chin, and the head snapped back at an unnatural angle. The Drow warrior fell soundlessly over the side of the walkway, and landed hard three levels below.

"We have little time," Soulafein said. "Here are the false eggs. Be careful not to confuse them with the others."

Zavrian took the eggs. Soulafein nodded to Viconia, touched Tree's hand, and vanished in another flash of teleportation.

"Hope no one finds the body soon," Adrian murmured.

"This is a Drow city, szinsring. Such happens all the time. Besides, they are too busy with the invasion anyway." As they stepped into the temple, she turned to Tree. "One thing that did make me curious though. How was Soulafein, when you had him?"

"Enthusiasticaly agressive," Tree smiled.

"Ah," Viconia chuckled. But then, mirth was over, the time for treachery--the business of Drow--had come.

----

Zavrian and Jan took care of the guards of the egg chamber, off to one side of the temple of Lolth. For Zavrian, backstabbing was an old skill. Jan, as a general rule, had not done it often, but he knew how well enough. The stabbing was relatively easy. Doing it without drawing attention was more difficult, but not impossible.

At any rate, the guards went down easy, with no noise. Adrian and Korgan caught the bodies before they could hit the floor. Now there was a sense of urgency, and time was of the essence. Here in Lolth's own temple, they were at the greatest danger. Viconia could feel the Spider Queen searching for her, but the Silver Dragon's glamour over the party and the dark tantric ritual she had performed with Adrian recently shielded her.

"Golems in there," Jan muttered. "We don't have time for this. Give me Phaere's eggs."

Zavrian did. Jan hasted himself, then cast invisiblity and vanished. Once inside, he scurried past the Golems and swapped the eggs. As he did so, he became visible, and ran back the way he had come, the Golems hot on his heels. Haer'Dalis shut the door behind him, and Jan gave the real eggs to Viconia.

They headed back to Phaere's apartment at a fast but unhurried pace, not wanting to draw suspicion.

"You still want to betray the Dragon, szinsring?" Viconia asked Adrian.

"Do you?" He returned.

She gave him an evil smile and kissed him. They almost became passionate, but then remembered the pressure of time. They slipped into Phaere's apartment.
The road to the abyss may be paved with good intentions, but it is those with bad intentions that race down that road as fast as they can.

Villians really need to learn to stop gloating.

And what of the eggs? I'm sure Jan has a good recipe for turnip omlette somewhere.

They almost became passionate, but then remembered the pressure of time.

Aww. Too bad.

They slipped into Phaere's apartment.

Which, I'm sure, has a nice, soft bed in it somewhere. Well, maybe not soft.

Beeep! Major error on his part there. :?

"We have little time," Soulafein said. "Here are the false eggs. Be careful not to confuse them with the others."

I'm sure they won't, but the question remains just what they'll do with them.

It *would* be rather nice to see a battle with Adalon, but I'll be happy no matter if they side with Phaere or not.
Rogues do it from behind.

Aww, just noticed an Adrian's Shadow creeping by! :D

Has Xan taken a drow form, I wonder? :)

Kicking a** ! Always good. ;)

;)

*snicker* But good Vic cares about these matters. Otherwise it wouldn't be Vic, right?

Jan, backstabbing? I fear the urge to tell the story would get better of him... though he would kill his adversary either way - in this case, the word would be sharper than the blade. :) (<--- my feeble attempt at a joke.)

Adalon battle - now, *that'd* be cool.

*yawn* Almost 1am here. Gods, I do not believe I am going to bed without reading Laufey's new chapter. ;) But I am. :D

Remember, Laufey, Viconia wants the flesh armor. But it is not required to side with Phaere to achieve that. ;)
