I'm not a huge fan of useless sidequests so they are just flash backs for now.

Now for another chapter with my FAVORITE character, BODHI!!!!!!!!!

Sacrifice: Chapter 13

"Hmmm...I had hoped that it would not come to this, but you are set in your path, aren't you?"

I stared at the short, but muscular vampire standing in front of me with an arrogant smirk on her face.

We had given the money to Bayle, who had directed us to Aran Linvail, the Shadowmaster of Atkatla, the leader of the Shadow Thieves. After running a few recon errands for him, he told us more of the rival thieves guild that had been challenging the Shadow Thieves as of late. Bodhi was the leader of the guild, and a strange one she was. She was a vampire, but she looked more like some of the streetwalkers in the slums of Atkatla. Aran asked us to destroy Bodhi and her guild and in return he would give us passage to the place the Cowled Wizards were holding Imoen. I had to admit, I was a little ticked when I found out we had to do services on top of the mountain of gold we paid, but I figured whatever got us to Imoen would be the path we took.

"So what if I am? Why does it matter to you? I came here to kill you and so I will," I said bluntly.

Bodhi's smirk did not falter. "Kill me for who? The Shadow Thieves? Tell me, Auren, have they kept their promise to you? Are you any closer to Imoen after all that hard work to earn so much gold and still they ask you to perform services for them?"

"I work for them because it's convenient. They know little about me and in return they are getting me to Imoen," I said.

Bodhi flat out laughed. "You are SUCH a sorry excuse for a Bhaalspawn. Do you honestly think that the Shadow Thieves' interest in you is purely mercenary?"

"What would you know about any of this anyway, unless you're somehow connected with Irenicus?" Jaheira demanded.

Bodhi glared at Jaheira and said, "If you really want to know, he's my brother. There, are you happy now?"

We all stared at the now pouty-looking vampire.

"Okay, enough of this," I said angrily. "I'm so sick of long dialogues with opponents. It's time for us to destroy you Bodhi."

"Yes, perhaps we'll both learn something in the process," she replied coldly and the fight was on.

I swung one sword at her torso, the other at her head. I missed her head but I was able to slash a deep cut in her side.

"DOWN THE VAMPIRE GOES!" Minsc shouted as he swung his two-handed sword down on Bodhi. Nalia rapidly fired arrows at the vampire and Jaheira used her quarterstaff to block any attacks Bodhi made at Aerie, who was concentrating on casting one spell after another. Somehow, I could hear Boo's battle squeaks above all the noises of the fight.

Finally, Bodhi stepped back and simply stopped fighting. She summoned a door to teleport herself away, but before she left, she said calmly, "Well, that was certainly...educational. I have seen enough and I am done with you...for now."

I stared at her, stunned.

"What's wrong with you? Is this all some kind of game to you?" Nalia demanded.

"I take my leave of you, Child of Bhaal," the vampire said to me. "For now, go and seek your precious Imoen. We shall meet again." And with that she was gone.

I looked at my friends. "Let's get out of here," I said and they eagerly agreed.

Later that night, we were at the Mithrest, recooperating from the battle. We were going to set sail the next day for Brynnlaw, the island where Spellhold was located. It was in Spellhold, an asylum for the 'magically deviant', that Imoen was being held. I was nervous, partially because I was afraid of what her condition would be, and also if and how I would confront Irenicus.

"You okay?"

I snapped out of my trance. Nalia was staring at me, looking concerned. We were sharing a room again, and to be honest, it was comforting knowing she was there with me. I was still partially confused about what, if anything, was going on between us but i didn't say anything.

"I'm all right, " I said. "Just thinking about tomorrow I suppose."

Nalia sat down on the bed next to me and took my hand. This time, I didn't flinch or shake. I just held it and felt some of the stress I had lessen.

"Thank you," I said. "For staying with us...for staying with me." I could feel myself blushing and I scolded myself mentally for it.

But she smiled. "Anytime, Auren. Actually, I'm a little tired, so I'm going to go to bed now, okay?"

"Um...sure! Go ahead...hehe," I laughed a little. "You don't have to ask my permission."

She laughed and stunned me by kissing me on the cheek.

"W-wha...I-" I stuttered like an idiot.

"Good night, Auren," she said, still smiling as she walked to her bed, got under the blankets and faced the wall.

"Um...good night, Nalia," I said and blew out the candles. But I sat in the dark for a few more minutes before I went to sleep, smiling.
