Holy crap! I'd been wondering if something was going on between those two, but I never thought I was right! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Sorry for all of the emoticons. I'm just extremely pleased. And I know you'll develop this relationship right, so I'm looking forward to many fine chapters with our newest happy pair.)

HOLY CRAP, woman! :D :D I didn't see THIS coming!

*brain overheats trying to picture gay Sarevok* My Sarry is definitely very hetero - but this works for me here.

Through these fields of destruction
Baptism of fire
I've watched all your suffering
As the battles raged higher
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms

*sniff* I love this song for the lyrics. It makes me think of my best friend.

“Just the strange tricks that fate plays. If I had been found in the street by Gorion, rather than my mother, would I be the hero of the Sword Coast? Or would my evil ways have been a disappointment to him?”

No one knows, but I rather believe he would have been the hero.

“She tried to sway my thoughts while she was alive. She warned me again and again that I was living too dangerously, that my quest for godhood would be my downfall. She told me that it was foolhardy to go after the other Bhaalspawn. But no matter how much she disagreed with me, no matter how badly I treated her, she stayed at my side and served me out of love. Not terror, not greed, but love.”

BAWL! Tamoko's life was so sad.

“You should not despair, Sarevok. You have many admirable qualities, and now that you have turned from evil, they shine for all to see.”

Oh yes.

Afterwards, Sarevok found himself grinning like a fool as they curled up together under the blankets of Anomen’s bed. “If someone had told me in my conquering days that I would someday have a priest of Helm in my arms, never mind a male one, I would have thought them deranged.”

LOL!

“I believe my father’s description was ‘a neutered pervert’,” Anomen said coolly.

It would be, yes. Ugh.

Anomen lifted his head and grinned. “I like your voice.”

So do I, Ano. So do I. *swooooons*

Woooowwww! :D *grins like a fool* I have to admit I never guessed this was coming, but now I can see you set it up for quite some time. Very neat, you had me completely fooled, and I always appreciate that!

I must admit I never thought Sarevok would go for a male lover, but I still think you wrote it in a way that worked for me, and you seem to have devoted a lot of time and thought to this plot, which really shows. And besides...two very attractive men together is something pleasant to behold indeed! ;)

Now, I wonder how the rest of the party will react..
Rogues do it from behind.

:D ;) ;)

*Bursts out laughing*

So you went and did it then!!!

*evil grin*

I'd lie to you if i said i didn't want it to happen, but i never imagined that you would take the step. It caugt me copletly off-guard, i nearly choeked in my Coke when i read it.

Well congratulations! ;) :)

Well, it was planned a long time ago, it just took a while to get to this point. :)

Now i just hope you treat they're relationship properly (duh, as if you wouldn't) because this is one of few fics where the slash fits almost seemless in with the rest of the fic. Most often the relationships seems too forced because the writer wanted it to be slash from day one. You really managed to introduce it properly to the story.

Oh, yes, their relationship will get the same thought as any other. I have always tried to have an element of realism in AC, and any relationship has to grow out of the personalities of the people involved. I really don't think of this as slash, it is just another relationship. It just so happens that both partners are male.

Well done :D

Thanks!

Well, this Sarevok is 98% het, but since he has had encounters with men before, he didn't have any trouble taking Anomen up on it. Under normal circumstances, he probably wouldn't have wound up with a male lover, but as the saying goes, any port in a storm.

Hehehe, I wondered how you would react to this. I figured you would either enjoy the twist or hate me for doing this to Sarevok. I'm glad you liked it!

It's hard to say, but I would think he would have turned out better with Gorion.

“She tried to sway my thoughts while she was alive. She warned me again and again that I was living too dangerously, that my quest for godhood would be my downfall. Yes, she put a note of tragedy into the story of BG1.

Well admit it, it doesn't sound like a likely combination.

“I believe my father’s description was ‘a neutered pervert’,” Anomen said coolly.

Cor, how we love to hate him.

Anomen lifted his head and grinned. “I like your voice.”

Glad to hear it! And yes, it was a long time coming. I wrote the first draft of this chapter over two years ago.

Well, for Sarevok, it isn't a great dramatic romance or anything, it is more, "Great, one of my friends wants to sleep with me!" We'll have to see if it becomes anything more than that.

Now, I wonder how the rest of the party will react..

Hehehe, that will be a while. Anomen isn't ready to come out of the closet just yet.

Hahaha! Oh, I've been lazy lately, and I haven't read about the last ten-fifteen chapters of A Cappella... I need to catch up... but I woke up this morning, glanced at The Attic, and thought I'd just have a quick check up on things. And then I found this... boy did I pick the right chapter to (intentionally, though it didn't work out that way) skim-read.

As such, I didn't see much of the Sarevok-Anomen development, but I wasn't in the least bit surprised. I totally believe you when you say you've had gay-Anomen planned for a while. It was literally this weekend when, in a chat with other Attic'ers about various fics, A Cappella came up and I just idly commented "I'm absolutely convinced Silrana's Anomen is gay, whatever people think there was or could have been with Imoen and Mazzy." Then, lo and behold, two days later!!

I have no problem with slash, only bad writing - and let's face it, bad writing isn't exclusive to slash. I find bad slash more annoying because it comes across as an attempt to be 'trendy' and bandwagon-y... yet I always had total faith (and still do) in you to write this in a perfectly reasonable and convincing manner. And now I don't even have to add "if it comes about"!!

Even though, as you pointed out, your Sarevok's 98% heterosexual, it's the 2% that can make it interesting. I'm firmly of the belief that orientation tends to be a major preference, not anything carved in stone. I wouldn't have been overly surprised if, halfway through Tide of Destiny, Harrian and Anomen had decided they wanted into bed together (well, it might have confused things, and that could make an interesting 'sidefic', but you get my point. Something about Anomen is there? ). Anyhoo, I look forward to the development of things.

Great stuff. *scurries off to catch up on past load of chapters and watch Anomen/Sarevok in development*

Interesting. Do you think it would work so for anyone who has experience for reason or another? I could definitely love a woman and commit to her the same way as with a man - but I wonder would the love be sexual enough to carry a monogamous relationship. Given that I only have hots for men and only fantasize about men - all my primal instincts are very heterosexual.

For me, of course, it wasn't really Baldur's Gate 1, but The Tragic Story of Sarevok  I don't know why but I really identified with him from the very first time I played the game. 'What, the wimp that is my protagonist? Never mind her, just give Sarevok the spell of 'Reload'!"

I know the feeling. There are several stories that I am trying hard to catch up on.

As such, I didn't see much of the Sarevok-Anomen development, but I wasn't in the least bit surprised. I totally believe you when you say you've had gay-Anomen planned for a while. :D I dropped a number of hints, but of course there were other things to confuse the issue. I had tremendous fun watching people ponder 'Is he or isn't he?' Though I think Oyster Girl and Darkrose, who have acted as betas/sounding boards for AC, have enjoyed it even more.

I have no problem with slash, only bad writing - and let's face it, bad writing isn't exclusive to slash. Thank you. One thing I can assure you was that there was no jumping on the bandwagon, because when I planned his character there was no bandwagon around. And I probably shouldn't refer to it as slash, because in my mind, it is just another relationship, just with same-sex partners.

Darkrose has said many times that there is something about Anomen that makes people's gaydar go off. For myself, I think it came from the whole Cor conflict. Even drunks don't usually behave that way towards a child with no reason. I felt that one reason that a Lord would have such anger towards his son and heir would be if he saw signs that his son was homosexual. Even the game Cor rants about family duty and obligations, so I figured that the fear of the family line ending could easily be an obsession that would make him go off the deep end towards Anomen.

Great stuff. *scurries off to catch up on past load of chapters and watch Anomen/Sarevok in development*

Thanks! And enjoy!

I think that question would have a different answer for every person. For myself, I don't really know. I have had close friendships with other women, but none that reached a level that would involve a physical aspect. I can look at another woman and think 'wow, she's hot', but I only get randy for men.

Now, as far as Sarevok goes, he thinks (or thought) of himself as het. His experiences with men were in the realm of the unusual or exotic. In other words, being with a man isn't foreign to him, but it isn't his usual cup of tea.

He's been back from the dead for a while now, and the closest he's gotten to sex was a vampire who tried to kill him. He was feeling lonely, and it is sinking in hard that Tamoko will never be there for him again. So when Anomen offered, Sarevok had no problem with accepting. And he is willing to continue the relationship because Anomen is a good friend. Until now, the idea of a true romantic relationship with another man has never occurred to Sarevok. Now that he is in a sexual relationship, whether or not his feelings will grow... wait and see.

Gnn. There is the kid you mentioned once (I suppose, from the context). Mazzy's, or somebody else? Gnn. :D

Here's is the biggest difference so far between our respective Sarevoks so far IMO. Mine is very dramatic and intense in his emotions - for him it is love or nothing. Even when he was evil he idealized and cherished Tamoko, not very mindful of that she didn't want to be a Queen of Death and the consort of the new God of Murder.

My Sarevok didn't have the traumatic exposure to sexuality that yours did. For him, sex is a good enjoyable thing. He loved Tamoko deeply, but that doesn't mean he can't have fun now.

Ah, I've been absent without leave for so long I missed the first few chapters where Anomen and Sarevok started to bond...

Laska : ... shagging each other's brains out...

Weyoun : Shut up, elf! Anyway, I like your twist on things a lot. Sarevok is already fully intergrated in the party too. No mean feat, that. :) Well done, keep up the good work!
