Adrian: Baldur's Gate

Chapter 83.

There was no action in bed that night. Vickie simply healed Adrian once more, and cuddled him as they went to sleep.

The next day, after a night's sleep devoid of dreams, thankfully, Adrian rose and stretched, Viconia curling up behind him.

"What today, lover?" she asked sleepily.

"Some breaking and entering I think, and then we'll seek some new comissions."

"I don't understand," said Edwin. "Breaking and entering? You're not a thief."

The party was seated at the Elfsong's largest table. From left to right, Adrian, Viconia, Kagain, Edwin, Xzar, Tiax.

"Not by trade, no," Adrian agreed. "But I feel like...exploring some houses today. Humor me."

"Tiax approves!"

"You would," giggled Xzar. "You are a thief after all."

Tiax snorted.

Adrian let Tiax lead, much to the chagrin of the others. He figured, correctly, that the thief would best know which house to hit.

After spending about an hour searching various quadrants of the city, Tiax led them to a rather nice row of merchant homes behind the Ducal Palace. Downstairs was a haughty butler with some magical skills, which they dispatched with difficulty.

His master upstairs was even tougher, and Kagain was badly wounded by the time they finished him. There wasn't much in the house, but the man himself had worn a golden helm that was obviously enchanted. It looked much like the normal helmet Kagain wore.

When Adrian put it on, he felt stronger and more powerful. The shadows of the previous day finally left him, and he held his head high.

"You look good in that," Viconia purred approvingly.

Outside, they moved across to a tall mage tower. It's owner, Ramazith by name, attempted to sell them a comission, but to Adrian it sounded fishy, so they killed him instead. Thankfully, no Fist had been around to notice.

"Xzar, Edwin?" Adrian asked. "I'm sure the tower contains things you would find useful."

The mages grinned. It was all the answer he needed.

"Let's go then."
