Dawn.
Edwin twitched his fingers, and he, Viconia, and Adrian vanished. Xzar stepped back and began casting the incantations they had learned from Narcillicus' scrolls.
Viconia slipped out first, and began to run southwards, through the sleeping camp. Edwin stalked out next, quietly moving towards where they thought Ten Hammer was camped. Adrian left last, approaching the main tent, and slowly crawling atop of it, making as little noise as he could. He had left his armor behind in the cave for stealth; if all went to plan, he would not need it.
Safana and Kagain readied their weapons inside the cave as Xzar completed the incantation and three jellies were summoned under his control. Kagain stepped to the cave mouth and watched, waiting for the sign that it was their turn to move.
Edwin reached the tent where Ten Hammer slept. Being an officer, he had a tent to himself.
"Wake up, monkey," he hissed into the darkness.
"Mmmp? What?" Ten Hammer asked sleepily, fumbling for his hammer.
Edwin became visible as he began to cast a spell. To his credit, Ten Hammer was fast; he had gotten to his feat and was about to swing his hammer when Edwin charmed him.
"Ten Hammer, my friend...." Edwin said.
"Aye...." the hammer drooped.
"You hate Ardenor Crush, don't you..."
"Uppity Hobgoblin...."
"Yes. You know what to do, don't you. Armor up, and go...."
Ten Hammer slipped into his armor, and tromped out of the tent with murder on his mind.
Edwin smiled.
Viconia reached the decaying temple with it's zombies and skeletons. She raised her hands and turned them. She was visible, but behind a tree so they did not see her....except those she turned, that is. These became her servants.
Wordlessly she pointed northward, and two zombies and three skeletons obeyed her command.
When the clash of battle began, Ten Hammer against Ardenor, Xzar sent out the jellies to do their work, knowing Viconia would be sending her own undead soon.
Kagain fingered his axe, but it was not yet his turn. The battle was not yet in full cry.
It didn't take much longer. As Ten Hammer pounded Ardenor into the ground, and was in turn killed by his followers, the Black Talon Bandits found themselves beset by undead and jellies. They could best these, but when the surviving Chill Hobgoblins came after them, they were already wounded and lessened.
Adrian smiled grimly, went up on one knee, and began firing into the melee, just as Kagain and Safana burst from the cave.
It was over in minutes, and none of the party were injured, and few spells used.
The party gathered before the large tent. As Edwin and Xzar had assured them last night, the entrance of the large tent was covered by a Silence spell, for privacy. It had also meant that Tazok's lieutenants had no idea what had occurred. Most likely they were still asleep.
Shrugging back into his armor, and having given Ten Hammer's to Kagain, the group made ready to attack...
